Our chairman Charlie Moore and his wife Addie have a fine home in Orleans, Mass., on Cape Cod. During the winter they had the misfortune to have a fire one night but smelled the smoke soon enough so that the fire did not get a real start and did some damage; but not extensive.
Ted Geisel's "The Cat in the Hat" was national television feature in March. Ted a the subject of a biographical article distributed about the same time by Central Press.
jack Norris lost his wife Beatrice who died in March. The funeral was in the First Baptist Church in New London, N. H., and was attended by Larry and Dot Leavitt. All of the Class extends sincere sympathy.
Lyn White, who has headed Bryant and Stratton Junior College of Business in Boston since 1956, has become chairman of the board of directors and has been succeeded as president by Donald G. Hanson. The college has announced a five-year expansion program based on newly acquired financial support. Whitey was honored by Grahm Junior College of Boston at their Honors Convocation last winter in "recognition of outstanding and meritorious service in behalf of business education on the junior college level."
Ken Montgomery, partner in the Chicago law firm of Wilson and McIlvaine, was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Letters degree March 19, Founders' Day at Miles College, Birmingham, Ala. Monty, who has been prominent in educational activities in the Chicago area, has also been helping Miles College in their development program in recent years.
Don Moore has received some recent publicity in Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, lowa, papers. Don lived in this area during school days before entering Dartmouth and the press there has been recalling his "Flash Gordon" comic strip and particularly the spaceman activities of its hero, which have now become reality. Don is retired in Venice, Fla., but continues active by teaching creative writing in the Port Charlotte Adult Education School.
Ed Yates lives in Little Switzerland, N. C., that is. He retired from General Motors seven years ago and built a home in the mountains near the Blue Ridge Parkway and not far from Asheville.
Ken Nugent of Waban, Mass., spends the first four months of the year on Siesta Key in Florida.
Tom Frost in Fishtail, Mont., lives in pretty rough country with high meadows and pasture well up in mountain areas. He cut down on work by selling one ranch a couple of years ago but still has his "home place" and a few hundred head of stock.
Stan Litchfield in Bonita, San Diego County, Calif., is in still another corner of the country. He retired at the end of 1968, sold his old house the next year and is now in a new apartment overlooking the golf course—no yard work, no maintenance.
Dan Slawson is in the middle of the country, but the country is Mexico. Dan lives in the charming town of Cuernavaca.
Ken Sullivan has been active in the international Executive Corps—one project in Bolivia and two in El Salvador, so he too is pretty well acquainted in Latin America.
Red Carey has been retired since 1962 and has a home in Pompano Beach, Fla., with summer activities based in Newbury-port, Mass.
The weekend of April 30-May 1 class oncers met in Hanover. 1925 was represented not only by the Secretary but by Lane Goss Herb Talbot and Ford Whelden, all with wives. A high spot of the gathering was the conferring of an Alumni Award on Ed Pease. For thirteen Wars Ed served the class as secretary and over the years has performed many other services for Dartmouth in and around ton. No award has been more deserved.
