In March our President Bill Jenkins, accompanied by wife Billee and part of the time by Dotand Larry Leavitt, made a trip which took in many of the attractive Florida sunny spots. There they found numerous '25ers and enjoyed both individual meetings and group gatherings. Here is a detailed account from Bill:

"A southwest Florida contingent of Dartmouth '25 had a most successful gathering at lunch on a beautiful sunny day aboard Bob andNaomi Borwell's luxurious motor yacht "Misty," docked at Sarasota's very fine yacht harbor at Marina Jacks. Earlier Bob and Naomi had traveled along both the east and west coasts of Florida visiting various other harbors where they found and were able to entertain Dartmouth folks.

"At Sarasota they were hosts to both a group of friends of Bob's sister, Bess Knight, and some 14 members of the Class of 1925. Eddie andHaven Blake, visiting in Sarasota after a month's stint in Delray taking care of Georgeand Fran Zahm's winter home while George and Fran fished in New Zealand, were with us. Edand Fran Burns, Don Hunt and his new wife Barbara and the latter's sister-in-law, came over from their respective residences at Whispering Sands on nearby Siesta Cay. Bob Hardy took time off from his Sarasota investment business to join the group, though his wife Hilda had a non-breakable golf date that unhappily prevented her from being aboard, arid Ken andLyd Nugent, having given up and sold their former home in Waban and now ensconced in their new permanent domicile in Sarasota, found it easy to be aboard. Fortunately for the Leavitts and the Jenkins, the Borwells were able to locate us enjoying ourselves here on Sanibel and we found it well worth while to take the 200mile drive to be in on the party. It was great fun all around. Tubby Washburn, living on his acres adjoining Whiskey Creek in nearby Fort Myers' outskirts, turned out to be too busy to take the trip so he missed it and we him.

"The Borwells' are now flying back to Michigan to become farmers again for a time while "Misty" moves over to the Bahamas where Bob and Naomi will come back aboard later this spring (when they are not staying on land in their home there). In early July they expect to be in Newport, R.I., to welcome the Tall Ships spectacle scheduled for that port and others along the eastern seaboard. When that excitement dies down the Borwells are to return to the Great Lakes Country as will "Misty"! And how would you like to try to keep up with them?

"The Leavitts and Jenkins move on to Naples, Dot and Larry to spend a few days there before picking up their grandson Tim in Miami whence to fly to Harbour Island for the rest of the month, the Js to remain in Naples for a similar period.

"On our way down here we visited Att Kimball in Jacksonville for a number of days and at Vero Beach had dinner with John and RuthPackard, among others, so we are managing to see quite a bunch of the gang."

They also had a visit with Tubby Washburn and his wife and toured their extensive grounds in Fort Myers, and a luncheon with Frank andEllie Wallis at Marco Island where they spend the winters in their home overlooking the bay and the waterways.

On a side trip to Clearwater, Larry talked with Carolyn Jameson who lives there and with Florence Perkins (now Mrs. Samuel McCracken) who is located in nearby Dunedin. The ladies did not know they were practically neighbors, but now may get acquainted.

Bob Hardy, one of those aboard "Misty" as mentioned above, reports that the Blakes are considering purchasing a home in the Sarasota area. Don Hunt has done so and since Bob, EdBurns, and Ken Nugent are already taxpayers, there it is getting to be a pretty substantial '25 colony.

Contrasting with all this southern sunshine, Herb Talbot at home in the Boston area had the tough luck to slip on the ice and break his hip February 23. After most of a month in the hospital he is, at the time of this writing, working to master the art of getting around on crutches.
