Class of 2000 comrades Lucas Braun, Chris Carney, Will Coyne, Carlos Escobar, Julian Kesner.Mike Lewis, Brian de Moya, Takeshi Toyohara and John White recently invaded the southern estate of Drew Gardiner and Jacob Licht, who are in their second year at UVA Law School in Charlottesville. Great weather, plenty of beer and Bombay Sapphire, hot dogs, pulled pork, a multitude of lawn games and a chorus line could not stop them in their quest to first take campus and then Monticello by storm. Ahung-over Sunday departure indeed proved to be a somber moment; it seemed that everyone—especially Chris and Lucas—left a little bit of themselves behind. Bocci on, Kings of Browns Mountain.
I was able to escape cold and rainy Boston in April for a visit to D.C., where I was able to catch up with Annie Kneedler, Janelle Ruley, Patrick Serfass, Jonathan Light and Kristen Leadbeater over tapas and sangria. We had a fabulous time (if I do say so myself). Kristen is currently working at the U.S. Department of State as a congressional advisor for the Senate Appropriations Committee and Jonathan is working as a homeland security consultant with Community Research Associates in Alexandria, Virginia, a company that works with federal and state agencies to ensure our communities are better prepared to handle future terrorist incidents. Patricks decided to test his mettle as a landlubber and try holding down a regular job for a while, after returning from a year of sailing adventures between Cape Cod and South America aboard Kintyre, a 26-foot sailboat he shared with friend and co-captain Tim O'Brien, and biking cross-country with his roommate from Boston, Topher Bordeau. He's been at the National Hydrogen Association in D.C. since those adventures ended last September and has most recently been working on hydrogen car projects. On the side he's been helping to coach his high school crew team, as well as one of the Naval Academy's off-shore sailing programs. And Janelle is also busy in D.C. Besides her day job, she's working with Josh Green, Brian Sleet, Jorge Miranda '01, Margaret Kuecker '01, Rachel Gilliar '98, Unai Montes-Irueste '98, Scott Jacobs '99 and many more alums on a special project. They are back at it again—this time with a project called 2020 Democrats. Remember Visions? Think of it as Visions II—but with a partisan twist. Are you a Democrat? Have you forgiven Josh and Janelle about that little Greek system thing? E-mail them. They want you.
Congratulations to Paige Perry and Andy Pennock '98, who were married in Rancho Santa Fe, California, on April 12. I've heard through the grapevine that it was a fantastic weekend for the many Dartmouth attendees! The class of 2000 had a great showing, with Anne Murray serving as Paiges maid of honor and Ainsley Ryan singing during the ceremony. Also in attendance were Taylor Jones, Kamie Twoomey, Sean Maduck, Mav, Lindsay Bowen, Marcus Coe, Watt Boone, Teddy Rice, Courtney Banghart, Gret Duckworth, Liz Martin, Katie Myers, Lauren Taggart, Josie Lauer, Emily Ramee and Molly Gregg. Many other Dartmouth alums were there to celebrate as well. No one could stop talking about how happy they were for Paige and Andy, who will be moving from Chicago to San Diego this spring, where Paige will be teaching and Andy will begin his residency in orthopaedics at UCSD.
Congratulations to the following engaged couples! Lori Mc Mullen was engaged to Lee Morlock (McGill '01) in March. Lori and Lee are both 2Ls at Harvard Law School and will be living in Chicago this summer and planning a March 2004 wedding in Boston. Denise O'Connell was recently engaged to Keith Zorn '98 and will be getting married in September near Boston. Kirk Klausmeyer also recently got engaged to his girlfriend, Heather Pearl, who he met in Boston after graduation. The wedding is set for July 13 in Hawaii, where Kirk and Heather currently live. After six years together, Katie Tyler and Eric Walania '98 were engaged the weekend before Christmas in the Bahamas. Katie and Eric are planning a wedding for April 2004 in Florida.
The Boston crew would also like to congratulate Dana Loebman on the arrival of The Fonz. We hear he's quite a looker and can't wait to meet him!
