Jim Page '63 (left), twice named the NCAA skimeister as a Dartmouth undergraduate, will succeed Al Merrill (right) as Dartmouth's varsity ski coach next fall.
Page is currently coach of Nordic events at Holderness School. He was a member of the United States Olympic team in 1964, competing in the jumping event at Innsbruck, Austria. Illness kept him from the cross-country competition. He was captain of skiing at Dartmouth in 1962 and 1963 and won the NCAA cross-country title in 1962.
Merrill, who has coached skiing at Dartmouth since 1957, will continue in his position as Director of Outdoor Affairs for the Outing Club, a post he assumed in 1970 and which takes more and more of his time.
Page is the fourth ski coach at Dartmouth. The late Otto Schniebs held the position from 1930 to 1936 and Walter Prager coached the Indians from 1937 to 1956 when Merrill succeeded him.
