Miss Shirley Grainger, formerly director of technical services and serials librarian at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Hartford, is the new librarian at the Dana Biomedical Library.
A native of London, Miss Grainger has extensive experience in the medical library field. After four years with the Berkshire County Library in England, she became assistant librarian at the Institute of Psychiatry of the University of London in 1959 She was associated, in successively more responsible positions, with the King's Colege Hospital Medical School at the University from 1960 to 1964 and again 1967-68.
In the interim, she was visiting librarianacquisitions librarian, and instructor ' medical bibliography at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Coral Gables, Fla. While there she studied computer Programming and served on the recruit committee of the Medical Library Association. Miss Grainger assumed her duties the University of Connecticut in 1970.
She delivered papers before the Royal Society of Medicine in 1969 and 1970 and has contributed numerous articles to Professional journals in this country England.
