Bob Fosse and I, accompanied by our wives, spent the first two weeks of July traveling to see the wildlife in Zimbabwe and Zambia. I was quickly reminded of a comment that a friend made shortly before we left: "It won't take you five minutes to realize that you are not at a zoo." How right that comment was. Bob and Peggy are now the proud grandparents of Matthew, their second. Bob continues to be the rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bakersfield, Calif. I told Bob that he and Peggy need to start planning now for our 40th Reunion. June of 1998 is less than four years away. I wonder how many of us can find our freshman beanies to wear for the occasion? Mine is tucked away in my bottom bureau drawer awaiting its return to the light of day on the Hanover Plain.

You may think that John Murphy spends all his time producing our superb class newsletter. The Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory 1994 lists John's practice areas as "Personal Injury; Product Liability and Medical Malpractice Defense; and Defense of Criminal Prosecutions. "John, where do you find the time to put together our newsletter?

I was saddened to learn earlier this summer of the death of George Salkeld. George died at home in Chester Springs, Pa., on June 5 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and two grown daughters. The class of '58 extends its sincere condolences to George's family. An obituary will appear in a future issue of the Alumni Magazine.

The next time you are in Hanover stop by the new Collis Center. What an addition it is to the campus. Plan on a cup of coffee or snack on the porch at the comer of West Wheelock and Main Street during the course of our mini-reunion October 7-8. I spent some time in August taking a look at Collis. Wow!
