In the true spirit of Spring cleaning, I've been going through my files at home in an attempt to restore some semblance of order to the chaos that once was a desk. It's amazing how much junk one can collect over a period of a year. Unfortunately, I uncovered quite a number of old news articles that up to now have not found their Way into this column. My apologies in advance to the subjects of those articles.

I now have more information about Dave Bond as both he and Elizabeth wrote to me just after last month's deadline. As you know, Dave was recently named Executive Director of the Canadian Consumer Council, and will hereafter be referred to as the "Nader of the North." Dave couldn't give me any info at the Princeton game—it was all very hush-hush then. During this past fall, the Bonds were living in Middletown, Conn., where Dave was enjoying a sabbatical leave at Wesleyan. Prior to then, Dave was an associate professor at the University of British Columbia. Elizabeth has stayed on at Wesleyan until June because of a commitment to their Department of Economics, after which she, Peter and Kristina will join Dave in Ottawa. Dave received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale and was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, specializing in banking and money, international trade and finance, and economic history.
Dave doesn't feel the "Nader" label is accurate because Nader is concerned with today, whereas Dave is more concerned with the long-run consumer interests. Instead of beating institutions about the head in the interests of consumerism, Bond hopes to help direct consumers and producers towards common goals. Dave also hopes to keep his eyes open for potential recruits for Big Green hockey teams. And why not, it worked well for Cornell.
Lastly, it is my sad duty to report the death of Dorothy Hambleton, wife of Dave Hambleton, of New Haven on November 29, 1971. The Class extends its deepest sympathy to Dave and his family.
