This is the last column of the academic year and it must be in Hanover before our annual Class Officers Weekend. I had hoped to report on those festivities in this issue, but I'll give you a complete rundown in October, including what our Hanover contingent is up to.

Phyllis and I hope to see John andStephanie Goyette next week. As you know, John is the business manager of Hopkins Center, and like Bill Lum, he recently completed a two-month exchange program in Australia under the auspices of Rotary Clubs International. John was not too impressed with Australia because of their domestic problems and because their current margin for error is greater than ours. He spent several hours a day working out to get in top shape for the surfing, squash, jogging and water skiing that are part of the Aussie schedule. En route, the group stopped at Hawaii, Tahiti and New Zealand before meeting their hosts in Brisbane.

When Dartmouth meets Brown for a baseball game next month, the Green will be facing a team managed for the first time by George "Woody" Woodworth. Woody signed on at Brown last summer, after resigning his athletic director job at Worcester Academy. Even though it was always baseball for Woody, he was recruited for football at Dartmouth. However, he was one of 23 centers on the team and was being used just to snap the ball on punts, so he changed for the fall baseball program. Woody spent three years in the Marines as a platoon leader before getting into coaching. At Brown, he also runs the intramural program while Dianne manages their three children at their Cranston home.

Frederick T. Graybeal has been awarded a doctoral degree by the University of Arizona.

I happened to catch the annual Alumni Fund dinner in New York on April 5, and picked up a few tidbits worth passing along. Seth Strickland was the master of ceremonies and it's nice to see Seth hit the big time after being relegated to the lesser known towns in the country. Seth, DickHarrison and Tom Brock are fathers-to-be, while the Dick Priors just had a new addition to their family. Mike Heitner reported that he and several other lawyers had left their firms to become partners in the new law firm of Arum, Friedman & Katz. Nothing new from the other guys at the dinner.

Hank Greer has been appointed to the newly-created post of vice president, marketing, for the data communication products division of Ultronic Systems Corp., a unit of GTE Information Systems, Inc. He will direct the domestic and Canadian sale of Ultronic equipment which includes Video-master displays, modems, multiplexers, and other computer-related equipment. Hank had spent eight years with IBM and most recently was an executive vice president of a Washington firm. For your Christmas card record, the move has been made from Virginia, and home is now at 257 Carriage Hill Drive, Moorestown, N. J.

John H. Reimer of Roselle, N. J., has been named sanctuary choir director of Cranford Alliance Church. A bass soloist, John has given concerts throughout the Northeast.

Gary Griffin was promoted to Associate Professor in the Agronomy section of the Plant Science Department at the University of Connecticut. The Griffins welcomed Jennifer Eileen to the family in January.

Dr. Richard A. Petrie, internist, has joined the Wentworth-Douglas Hospital staff in Dover, N. H. Dick attended Dartmouth Med School and McGill before interning at Royal Victoria Hospital. After two years in the Navy, Dick rejoined Royal Victoria for three years residency in internal medicine and cardiology.

The Joe Mandels of Sherman Oaks, Cal., announced the birth of Eric David Mandel on March 14 of this year. Winkler, Cantor, Pomboy & Co. are. pleased to announce their move to expanded new offices in uptown New York. Paul Cantor and Dick Pomboy must be doing something right. The Peter Hawks announce the birth of their first child Samantha on March 13 in Denver. At three weeks of age, she rode the train at Snow Bird in Utah and has been to a race at Loveland. You can't start them too young these days. Pete is Western Sales Manager with Trappe of Aspen, a maker of ski equipment. The Hawks plan to spend the summer playing tennis and back-packing, and no doubt will include their new daughter in the activities.

David Frankel is a doctoral candidate in Biochemistry at Boston University. Dave entered the program in 1969 after serving as research assistant at the Massachusetts State Diagnostic Lab. His thesis is on amino acids nutrition and he presented a paper on that subject to a convention in April. Dave included the title, but the combination of his handwriting and my total lack of scientific understanding made it impossible to pass on. Anyway, Dave is president of Center Club, a mental health rehabilitation organization, and is active in B.U. Hillel Graduate Society. He has been in touch with Axel Grabowski, NedHanouer and Bob Kenerson.

Mike Notaro has been named to the board of trustees of Illinois Benedictine College in La Grange, Ill. Mike is president of the Statistical Tabulating Corporation's task force division and operates the Temporary Help Service in Chicago. He has held marketing and management positions with the former firm since he graduated from Northwestern with an MBA. Mike also received a pretty good write-up in the Chicago Sun-Times on the subject of womens' rights. Mike believes in womens' rights, but feels that businessmen miss the point of his speeches. To him, women's lib is simply equal pay for equal work and fair employment in business. In his current role as head of a temporary help service, Mike is in a position to know what he talks about. He has received reactions ranging from total silence to tremendous upheaval from business groups, depending upon whether or not the group wishes to tune out his message. And well they might, since he admonishes them for unfair labor practices, discounting half their people and providing no avenues to acquire and express authority. Mike, Gloria Steinem would be proud of you.

David F. Harrison has been elected a vice president of the Bank of New York. Dave took his graduate courses at N.Y.U., is a member of the Y.M.C.A. and is active in local church affairs. He, Judy and their three children live in Brookside, N. J.

Harry Bruckner Jr. is seeking the assessor post in his home town of Marshfield, Mass. He, Ginny and their two children have been residents for over four years. Harry is presently with 3M Company's Visual Products Division. We wish you good luck in your race, Harry.

Carl Bahn has recently transferred to the G.E. plant in Hickory, N. C., and JayCrane has done the same; thus forming the nucleus of a new alumni club. Carl and Peggy are the parents of three children.

Dune Mathewson writes that he has been appointed archaeologist at the Institute of Jamaica in Kingston. He is directing the excavations at Old King's House, site of the 18th century governor's residence. It seems that I recall Dune being involved in the fabric business too, but he made no mention of it.

That just about wraps up my file of news. Two further thoughts. First, this is the last opportunity to send in your Fund contribution. Second, have a great summer.
