It's a good thing that this is the last column for the year because warm weather always brings out the apathy in me. I was hoping that the news would be brief, but a few guys have sent letters that I will pass on to you.

Arlene and Dick Davidson wrote a nice note from their home in Cherry Hill, N.J., a suburb of Philadelphia. For the past three years. Dick has worked for Programming Methods, Inc., a computer oriented consulting firm in New York. This means a 95-mile commute each way on days that Dick is not on the road in pursuit of the hot prospect. Dick is now a V.P. of the firm and his responsibilities take him all over the world, but the severe travel has been offset by some great company paid vacations. The Davidson's oldest daughter Jude will turn 13 this month, and will probably be the first Bar Mitzvah girl in the Class. Two younger children complete the family.

D. Barry Sibson has been named manager for the Los Angeles territory of Turner Construction Co. Barry joined the firm in 1967 after receiving a M.S. degree in civil engineering from Stanford. He and his wife are the parents of two children and reside in Arcadia. D. Borden Powers has been promoted to vice president in the National Division of the Hartford National Bank and Trust Co. Borden joined HNB in 1970, was named assistant V.P. in 1971, and keeps on moving up the corporate ladder.

I received a nice note and an announcement from Dr. Don Bayles last month. Angeline and Don moved to Mobile early this year where Don has opened an office in Plastic Surgery. They also welcomed their first son Travis Clark Bayles in late February and thus missed taking part in the Mobile Mardi Gras. Don states that Mardi Gras in Mobile predates the one in New Orleans by several years and that the azaleas in late March are absolutely breathtaking.

Roger and Donna Stephenson welcomed the arrival of Christopher Holden this past December 30. Morris Feldman has been making the newspapers in Chicago. Morrie is with the Bull Towing Co. and is secretary of the Chicago District Waterways Association. Recently he gave sworn testimony to State of Illinois' Commission for Economic Development on the subject of maintaining and improving the various rivers and lakes that make up the waterway. The subject ranged from duplicate locks on the Illinois Waterway to pollution and environmental enhancement in Lake Michigan. In another newspaper article, Morrie was quoted on the importance of the new Tennessee-Tombigbee project in the deep South. He explained that there was now a 10,000 mile river barge system that will link Chicago with Mobile in the very near future.

The last part of this column is being written in Hanover where Phyllis and I are attending the annual Class Officers Weekend along with the Morgans, Brocks, Browers, Gene Kohn, and SethStrickland. Seth gave one of the talks at the Saturday session and reported that the Alumni Fund is doing very well so far. Chuck is the cochairman for Reunion next year and was actively establishing dorm locations and the like. Despite the cool weather, we were able to get a few sets of tennis in. Barbara Brower hits a ball as hard as any girl I've ever seen.

The Saturday night cocktail party is given at the home of a college official and we were pleased to see Stephanie and John Goyette, Mary and Gordie DeWitt, and Rog Hanlon. Rog was called up from Hartford to help reach a just decision in the Beta house case, the DeWitts had just returned from a camping vacation to Disney World, and John Goyette had already caught his limit of trout in his secret place. So everyone seems to be doing fine. Except for Jake who couldn't make it due to a recruiting road trip.

A few other observations. The presence of women on the campus is not that noticeable yet since only one class has been admitted. There is a parking lot where the Deke house once stood, Al Foley is still in town, and there appears to be a return to the activities of the 50's as evidenced by the Beta thing and other instances.

Have a good summer, please be sure to give to the Alumni Fund, and plan to get to a few games next fall. Details will be forthcoming in the next Newsletter.
