Tales from Reunion. Pop Chesley found it wise to return to his home in Utica early June 10. Upon arrival his physicians took him to the hospital where he remained nearly three weeks. He continued his recovery at his camp and is now feeling better and was able to attend to his duties in connection with a music festival which he had planned. Best wishes, Pop.
Secondly, an interesting tale submitted by Mabel (Mrs. Eliphalet) Greeley. She had sent us a snapshot of herself standing by an enormous grandfather clock. This part of the tale is about "Life" (more about Mabel later, perhaps in an issue of the '08er). The clock belonged to Josiah Bartlett, first governor of New Hampshire, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and greatgrandfather, six or seven generations removed, of '08's "Life" Greeley.
Joe Goodheart, once of '08 but officially listed with '09, sends a volume of newspaper publicity concerning the opening of a new Treadway Inn at Norwich, N.Y. John Thompson keeps busy with his housekeeping and pins two more badges on us: "Stalwart Pilgrims" and "Time Defying Guys." OK, John, we will bear them proudly.
We have learned, from a returned envelope marked 'Deceased' that Royal "Nick" Carter has passed away. Nick addressed all his mail to our late Leon Woodward, the only address he remembered. Leon passed the letters along. The last such was dated January 15, 1971. However, mail to Nick, as late as March '73, was not returned.
Newspapers report the death of Naomi K. (Mrs. Arthur L.) Lewis at Mendon, Mass. on May 7. Jessie A. (Mrs. Warren) Currier passed away late in February. Unfortunately, word reached us too late for the spring numbers of the Magazine. We extend to Chick and his family, on behalf of his classmates, our sincere sympathy. Abigail (Mrs. Harold H.) Snow died April 16, 1973. Mrs. Barbara C. Wood, daughter of Howard W.Cowee, passed away in November, 1972.
