As I write this column it looks like another typical Dartmouth fall has begun. After a mediocre performance in two preseason scrimmages, rookie coach Jake Crouthamel turned the troops loose on UMass and the result was a 31-7 routcould it be another super season? (Palmer C. D. Wooglin predicts 8-1 and yet another Ivy League title.)

Tuck Mays threw his version of a preseason exhibition in Greens Farms, Conn, for those Greeners (and assorted others) who couldn't make the big show in Wichita on October 2. Mike Buckley came via the UMass game from Rochester, N. Y. His wife Mary had presented him with number two child (number one daughter is Kathleen Mary) just early enough in September to enable him to attend the Mays' bash with a clear conscience.

Another '65 in attendance was BrianPorzak. Brian has just begun his own film company and is also working for Metromedia in New York City. Sven and LauraKarlen were also on board. He is with Smith, Barney in New York. CharlieStrauss was expected, but Uncle Sam had first dibs on his services for the weekend. Charlie's New York business address is the Playtex division of National Products.

Vassar College has promoted GregFahlund to the rank of assistant professor of political science. Greg has his M.A. and Ph.D. from UMass and is in his third year on the Vassar faculty.

Walt Lacey is a Lt. (j.g.) in the Navy, currently based in Brunswick, Maine after a spring and summer cruising the Mediterranean.

Jim Scott continues to toil for Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Montgomery in Boston. Brother Jeff '74 just pledged Psi U at Dartmouth, keeping the family skein alive.

We recently had an opportunity to see Pete and Sue Coker and their children on their homeground in Allentown, pa. He continues his meteoric rise in the executive world of Bethlehem Steel. The Treasurer's office is his realm, and the word is that the big guy is mighty good at his task Another rumor has it that he set a endurance record at the Allentown Fair's beer gardens this summer.

Jack Herney spent the summer working on Senator Tom Mclntyre's stall in New Hampshire. He's back to his history classroom at Exeter now, but politics cor tinue to lure him.

The Hartford (Conn.) Courant is the beneficiary of Dick Kaukas' journalist;" talents these days. He and his bride are also living in Hartford.

It's disappointing to be writing such a short column this month, but news about '65 has been hard to find. I would welcome hearing from anyone, regardless of how insignificant he thinks his news is. so that our deluxe holiday double issue (with center fold out of the famed Edith) will be something special.

Happy Thanksgiving, happy days, and peace!
