And, so, the year of ten begins. It's hard to believe that it was as long ago as a decade that we were starting our senior year in Hanover. The Class of 1965 will celebrate the end of our first decade away from the College on June 13-15, 1975 - our 10th Reunion. The Classes of 1964 and 1966 will be having their reunions on the same weekend, and we'll be getting together with them for some events. A preview of the reunion festivities will occur on Saturday, October 26, - the day of the Harvard-Dartmouth game in Hanover - at a '65 tent which will be open at half-time and after the game. The reunion committee hopes that many '65s will be able to make one or both of those occasions. They will be great opportunities to catch up with the Dartmouth of the '70s and to see many old friends.
One of the people you are likely to see on your next trip to Hanover is Dan Corbett, who is the College's new fraternity business manager.
The word from the South is that Jim Ramsey is a Democratic candidate for county attorney in Anderson County, Tenn. That is Jim's home area, and we wish him well in his political pursuits.
Doug Miller has been appointed to the position of vice president, marketing, of Atlantic Telephone Co., Inc., in Rockville, Md. Atlantic Telephone is the major interconnecting telephone company in the Washington- Baltimore area.
Bill and Ceecee Gorton welcomed Anne Croteau Gorton into their family last June. She makes them two for two in the coed department. Ron Lewis has changed the location of his blacksmith shop. He's now in Newmarket, N.H.
Jim Markham has become a member of the Whittier, Calif., law firm of Martin E. Whelan Jr., Inc. Jim has been associated with them since 1970.
Sara Gross, Barry's widow, has written to thank the Class for the purchase of a book for Baker Library in Barry's memory. The '65 memorial book program, under Jack Herney's aegis, is a class project which has enabled us to honor each of our deceased classmates with a gift of a book to the Dartmouth library.
The Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, a century-old devotional and prayer society within the Anglican community of the Episcopal Church, held its annual meeting in New Jersey in late June. The Rev. George Rutler, rector of the Church of the Good Shepard in Rosemont, Pa., gave the sermon. The event had added significance for George, as it was held in his hometown of Paterson.
Bob Koury has become vice president of finance for Jeffrey Sneider and Company in suburban Virginia. He and Donna, with daughter Deanne, live in Herndon, Va.
Bill Hicks has joined the law firm of Cole, Cole and Harmon in Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State's College of Law last December and was admitted to the bar in the spring. Bill, Gretchen, and two sons (four and one) live in Springfield, his hometown.
Steve Waterhouse has written to each of you to report the sensational results of our effort in the 1974 Alumni Fund. It is appropriate, I think, for '65 to go on record as being greatly appreciative of Steve and his group of assistant class agents, whose hard work has enabled us to succeed in raising support for Dartmouth as no other nine-year class in the College's history has done. Bravo and whatever it is we give now instead of a Wh-Hh-W to Steve, and thanks to every '65 who had a part in our record effort.
Finally, one more reminder to reserve June 13-15, 1975, for our 10th Reunion in Hanover. We'll also hope to see many of you in one or more Ivy stadiums this fall.
Happy days and peace.
