Ah, the sweet taste of a football victory against Harvard at the Stadium on a beautiful fall New England day. As usual the Stadium was packed, but this time after a poor beginning to the Dartmouth season and a week of chiding by the Boston sportswriters everyone was anticipating the long-awaited Harvard win over "the Big Green." This game, the writers say, has become more important to Harvard than the Yale game. But once again Harvard was disappointed as a fired up Green team put on a great offensive effprt in the first half, and then relied on the defence in the second half to hang on to the win. '58 was well represented. This being reunion year we had seats on the 30-yard line and not in the Collonades.

As they marched onto the field before the game, the announcer said that the Dartmouth band is to good music what Spiro Agnew is to good government."

It was good seeing Stan Beiley after so many years. Stan and Marsha were still suffering from jet lag having arrived in Boston from London so they could see the game and also the Miami Dolphins Boston Patriots game on Sunday. Stan and Marsha are ardent Dolphins fans. The Beileys live in Miami where Stan is a lawyer. His firm is growing rapidly. They have an office in New York and Stan's trip to London was to open an office in England. Stan spends a lot of time doing recruiting work for the College. The Beiley's have three children.

Coming all the way from Chicago for the game were Morris and Claire Greeley. Morris is vice president and treasurer of McCain Manufacturing Corp., manufacturers of book binding equipment. Andy Toorock tells me has changed jobs after 11 years with Rix Corp. here in Boston. He is now national sales manager of Fanny Farmer Corp., the candy people. Fanny Farmer is headquartered here in Boston.

Among others sitting around us in the stands were: the Joe Palermo's, the Art Neiterman's,Frank Sands, the Dick Osgoods, the Lin Hall's, the Dick Pugh's, Joe and Sandy Slotnik, DonAngell, John Graf, and Myles and JoyceSlosberg. I'm sure there were many more I missed.

The '58 turnout for the Penn game in Hanover was a good one, too, although the outcome of the game was not as satisfying as today's. As usual Dave and Ann Bradley hosted a mini-reunion at Dave's office across from Leverone. The new girls field hockey field can be seen from Dave's office. I had a chance to talk to John Carton who lives in Spring Lake, New Jersey where he practices law. He spends a great deal of time coaching the junior soccer program which is growing in popularity throughout the country.

Hobie Van Dusen was up from Westport, Conn., from where he commutes daily to New York City and the Chemical Bank. The Van Dusens and their three children spend a lot of time up in Wentworth, New Hampshire where they have a second home.

Mary Ann Harris hosted a fine dinner that evening. Ted was doing some medical conventioning in Japan. In addition to a full load at the Med School and the hospital, Ted finds time to play in a musical combo. The whole Harris family is musically inclined either singing or playing an instrument or both. Mary Ann is taking a course in auto repair, not to take it up as a profession, but because Ted has promised she could buy an antique car if she learns to play a Mozart sonata on the piano.

The Dave Pratt's stopped by as did the RinkDeWitts. Rink reports that Eastman, the resort community he has been involved with south of Hanover near Lake Sunapee, is going well. He also recommends highly Tallulah's restaurant at Eastman.

On Sunday the class Executive Committee traveled down to Mel Alperin's condominium at Grand Leyden at Sunapee for their annual meeting. In attendance at this important prereunion meeting were: President Dick Frisch, Larry Weltin, Walt Vail, Don McCree, Herb Swarzman, Dave Bradley, Mel Alperin, Joel Portugal, John Parker, Bob Eleveld, and your correspondent. This was a very productive meeting with many plans developed to make our 15th Reunion a worthwhile and exciting return to Hanover. More will be said in this column as time goes on and in Larry Weltin's newsletter. Let me just say at this point that we expect a big turnout and hope most of you are planning to come back. By the way Larry Weltin will be the master of ceremonies at our banquet which should be an experience. He hasn't changed much from his days in Hanover and we are in for a rare treat. Larry's wit and humor kept us going all weekend. He uses his creativity in his own 21-person advertising agency in Atlanta

With Gerald Ford about to become the new vice president, Bob Eleveld finds himself in the position of king-maker. Bob is very active in the Republican party in Michigan, and he and hi cronies have been grooming a prospective congressman. Now they must speed up their schedule to fill Ford's spot.

Libby-Owens-Ford Company has appointed Ted Furber as a senior attorney. Previously he had been with United Steele and made his recent move from Boise Cascade where he was assistant general counsel. Ted took his law degree at the University of Minnesota, holds a master of comparative law degree from the University of Chicago, and has also studied at Germany's University of Munster. Indicated is a Furber family move to Toledo, Ohio.

While you are marking your calendars, please note down March 1-3, 1974. Those are the dates of the Alumni Ski Weekend in Hanover sponsored by our class. The following week, Mar. 9- 16, I will be taking the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Greater Boston to Aspen for a week so if any of you can get out there at that time, it would be great to do a little pre-reuning.
