Assuming that he already has all the editors he needs, I pass along - unedited - a letter, from Chris Wren:

"We almost, but apparently not quite, beat TedSpetnagle's record in 1971-2, with four moves in a year - from New York to Washington, another move within Washington, to Scarsdale, and back to New York.

"I wrote national affairs for Newsweek in the year and a half since Look's demise, but found myself pining again for the peripatetic life of a battered-shoe reporter. Consequently, I've just left Newsweek to join The New York Times. Ultimately, I hope to go overseas to take advantage of my Russian and/or Mandarin Chinese.

"I recently received help from three '57s on stories. Frank Andrews, out at the University of Michigan, explained to me the nuances of political polling for a Newsweek piece I was writing. Roger Brown, out in Vail, Colo., helped me with a piece on Vail that the New York Times Magazine is scheduled to run next month [February], Wally Ackley fed and put me up while I was researching another free-lance piece for Saturday Review in the Boston area; it ran last fall.

"My book on Johnny Cash and country music has gone through two printings and will be published in Great Britain shortly.

"I've also written two songs, including the title song, for Johnny Cash's forthcoming movie, "Gospel Road."

"Incidentally, my first two assignments for The Times were covering the busting of a narcotics ring and a messy homicide - quite a change of pace from a spate of more rarified political writing."

The Faculty of Medicine at Harvard recently announced that Dr. Charles Cummings has been appointed assistant professor of Otolaryngology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Charlie earned his M.D. degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville.

Arlan Cady has been promoted from manager to director of advertising planning for the newly formed professional and finishing markets division of Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, N.Y.

The evaluation of computer hardware and software for the Standard Oil Company (Ohio) is being handled by none other than AllanVendeland, who does the primary research and development work and also selects the equipment that the company buys. Allan was formerly with IBM and General Electric. He lives with his wife Ellen, a teacher, and their three daughters in Lyndhurst, Ohio.

John LaMonte is also out in Ohio (Youngstown) as divisional merchandise manager for Strauss', a division of the May department stores company. Prior to his present position, John was with Lazarus stores in Ohio and later with the May corporate office in St. Louis. John lives in Youngstown with his wife Patty and their two children.

Another midwesterner, Mike "Rat" Battles, reports in from "the sticks" of Norwalk, Ohio. Mike is a self-employed insurance agent and obviously enjoys meeting people in his work and in community functions. Mike and his large family - wife Barbara and four children ranging in age from one to 16 - are anxiously awaiting our 20th reunion in 1976. In the meantime, Mike's plans for the future are to "just keep the ball rolling."
