As the man said, "Everybody's got to be someplace!," and you could do a lot worse than Colorado, especially if you are into skiing. As we noted last month, Bob Sproull, the Scarsdale transplant, is in Aspen running Jake's Restaurant. Then there's Pete Stone, who owns and manages Prospector Lodge, the oldest lodge in Aspen. Pete says the most interesting aspect of his job is skiing and meeting stimulating people who return to his lodge! Although Pete has a B.S. from the University of Utah, one secret ambition is to return to the College and graduate. Pete is president of the Aspen Lodging Association (80 member lodges), and is a director of the Aspen Chamber of Commerce and the Aspen Resort Association. Wife Ruth owns and operates The Children's Playshop (pre-school), paints in watercolors, oils, and acrylics (the latter are for sale), and plays the autoharp and the piano. The Stones have two children - Todd (7) who "just might be Dartmouth material," and Melissa (5) who is "Big Eight material." Pete's plans for the future are to "hang in here as a father and husband, innkeeper nkeeper and responsible citizen." And, to ski!

Gprdpm Rippey, a Denver native, is back home keeping busy as vice president, sales, for Mobile Premix Concrete, Inc. Gordy spent 18 months in investment banking after Dartmouth, and has been in the construction business ever since. He is currently building a cabin and developing property near Encampment, Wyo. Gordy, his wife Sally, and their three boys live inn Littleton.

Another Denver native, Monte Pasco, has been backon his old stomping grounds since 1960, when he received his law degree from Stamford and went to work for the Denver law firm of Ireland, Stapleton, Pryor and Holmes, Monte has a very interesting corporate practice which includes a fair amount of litigation, banking and natural resource work. He has been very active in Democratic Party politics - he was Colorado state chairman for Hubert Humphrey in 1968, ran unsuccessfully for a Denver School Board seat in 1969, has held a variety of party positions and is currently Colorado Democratic State Chairman. He is also a director of Junior Achievement of Denver and of the Whiteman School in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Monte, his wife Sally, who teaches part-time at Metropolitan State College in Denver, and their three children live in Denver.

Chicopee Mills, Inc., the market division of the manufacturing company of the same name, has made JackHall Jr. a vice president. He is merchan- dising manager of the Nonwoven Fabrics Division and began working for the company in 1963 as supervisor of research planning at the Milltown, N.J., plant. He has also had experience in marketing, finance, and production. Jack and wife Joan and their two boys live on Beachtree Lane in Hopewell, N.J.

And another Jack, Jack Hewitt, has become a partner in State Street Research & Management Company of Boston. The firm is investment advisor to State Street Investment, Federal Street Fund Inc., Harvard, and various pension endowment funds. Jack, since joining State Street in 1968, has been primarily responsible for managing the Harvard bond portfolio of about $400 million. The Hewitts, including wife Thelma; Clayton, 14; and Susan, 12, live in Dover, Mass.

From down Athens, Tenn., way comes word that "Zeus" Stevens is a hospital administrator with the Hospital Corporation of America, and manages the Athens Community Hospital. Zeus has a masters in health care administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Tex. Before settling in Athens, he spent four years with Proctor & Gamble and another four years with the Glendinning Companies. Zeus finds a real challenge in dealing with the myriad problems that face the health care industry today, and he says that his job and family - wife Peggy (Skidmore '61), daughter Amy (7) and son Charles E., Jr. (5) - take all his time.

Dan Woodhead has been in Washington, D.C., with the Food Stamp Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture since 1966. He has a masters from Georgetown University. Dan is active in judo and skiing in his spare time. He lives in Washington with his wife Elaine and their two sons.

Out in Ohio, Dick Hume is a life underwriter with Nationwide. Dick has a masters in English and taught that subject at Ohio State University for three years prior to his present situation. He enjoys reading and listening to the local symphony and plans to travel to Europe in the not-too-distant future. Dick, his wife Carol, and their two sons live in Worthington, Ohio.

Joe "Jose" Lane, the Lookout Mountain, Tenn., wonder, is president of his family's hosiery mill in Cleveland, Tenn. I gather from a mutual friend with whom I fished for salmon in Iceland not too long ago, that Jose is working hard and generally behaving himself. With wife Pat and five kids, he'd better! Joe does find time to work for the College - he is a past president of the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Chattanooga - and he is active in the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce and the JC's. Jose also gets in a bit of golf, tennis, and fishing. The Lanes live on Lookout Mountain.

See you next month - if I can get enough gasoline to make it to the postoffice.
