Wedding bells and babies were big for '57 this year:

Dr. Alan Burnes was married to Karen Lois Hirschmann of Marion, Mass., in September. After honeymooning in Denmark, the Burnes set up housekeeping in Marion. A graduate of the Harvard University Graduate School, Al is a psychologist and executive director of Bristol Acres School in Taunton, Mass.

Dr. Leon I. Mann was married to Katherine McBride Hall of Bellevue, Wash., in September. Leon, a graduate of Yeshiva University's Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Cornell. University Medical College in New York. He is also director of the Laboratory of Perinatal Medicine at Cornell and is conducting research on possible causes for mental retardation. Leon's new bride is a graduate of Cornell University-New York Hospital of Nursing. The medical-minded Manns live in Haworth, N.J.

Vernon ward was married to Sallie Hickock Tomasi in August. Vernon is treasurer and general manager of Iron Horse Antiques, Inc which specializes in the history of the technological arts and Pre-Victorian antique furniture. The Wards live in Bomoseen, Vt.

And the babies ... Larrie and Gretchen Calvert announce the birth of their third daughter, Molly, born April 9. Larrie would like the world to know that Molly is "very courteous and polite." Those traits obviously come from her mother! Larrie and Gretehen live in Summit, N.J.

Dr. George Cox and Joan announce the birth of their second daughter, Sharon Adele, born on May 21. George has just completed his third year of private practice in internal medicine and gastroenterology in his hometown Suffern, N. Y.

Dr. Frank Hoefle and Patty announce the birth of their first child, Frank M. Hoefle, on September 23. Frank says plans for the Class of '92 are in progress. Frank is practicing ophthalmology at Columbia Presbyterian and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. The Hoefles live in Brooklyn.

Dan Goggin has been appointed vice president and controller of the Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company in Boston. Dan joined Boston Mutual in August, 1968 as controller and in July, 1969 was elected a second vice president. Dan received his M.B.A. in accounting and finance from Tuck School and is a certified public accountant. He is also director and treasurer of the Boston Mutual Sales Corporation. Dan, Connie and their three sons live in Chelmsford, Mass.

Jules Rose has been appointed executive vice president of Sloans Supermarkets in New York City. Jules is also active in industry organizations—vice president of the Food Industry alliance; vice president of Harvest Lodge B'nai B'rith, an officer of the Eastern Frosted Foods Association and founder of the Eastern Dairy-Deli Association.

Jim Nevitt writes: "Still flying international second officer to Honolulu out of San Francisco for Western Airlines. Wife was a stewardess in New Zealand so am taking her and the two boys to New Zealand for Christmas again this year." Jim and family live in Santa Clara, Cal.

John Turnbull spent a year at M.I.T. at the Center for Advanced Engineering. He returned to IBM in June and was transferred to the IBM Components Division in Manassas, Va. John and his wife Ellen live in Reston, Va.

Dr. Peter Dietz is another '57 who is forking abroad. Peter writes: "Spending this year as an exchange professor at the Netherlands School of Business (Nijenrode). Kind of fun as my office is in a castle which dates back to about 1200. Also have been recently elected vice president of Frank Russell Co., Inc., Tacoma, Washington-a member of the New York Stock Exchange."
