'28s Great and Glorious 45th Reunion is ready to blossom, June 11,12 and 13. Over 200 of the class family plan to attend and want you with them in Hanover. A heartwarming welcome awaits you and, let's face it, there is no replay to a 45th Reunion. Even now it is not too late to let Reunion Chairman Cal Billings know you will be with us. A note to Cal at 58 Rumford St., West Hartford, Conn. 06107 will do it, but it is now or never.

As a class we're shooting for records in several categories. Record attendance! Record percentage! Record financial support! George Emery, our Head Agent, and President Jack Kenerson and a hard-working committee are going all out to make '28s 45th Reunion Gift a record one. We're shooting for $119,280 and as of April 3 have $74,300 in cash and pledges, but we still need $44,980. So think big.

Ollie Andrus, Milton, Conn., physician, and Dolly plan on reunion - they spent January and February on Treasure Island, Fla.

Hollis Carlisle, who retired ten years ago as treasurer of the Carlisle Hardware Co. in Springfield, Mass., and Art Kneerim, who retired in 1970 as an executive of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York City, both live in Stonington, Conn., and play chess weekly.

Jack Kenerson participated in a telethon at the opening of the alumni fund campaign and one of those he talked to was George Coyle, former mayor of New Britain, Conn., and active attorney in that city. He recalled tutoring Myles Lane and Al Fusonie in Greek his freshman year which enabled them to stay out of scholastic difficulty.

Irv and Mickey Engelman now live in Potomac, Md. Irv capped a career of 42 years in social work for the State of New Jersey by serving as director of the Division of Welfare for the State from 1960-72. He is now an administrative associate with the American Public Welfare Association, 1660 L St., N.W.. Washington, D.C.

Bob (Robert Lincoln) Clark, former manpower expert for the government in Washington except for four years when he represented the Ford Foundation in New Delhi, has retired to Governor's Road, Sanbornville, N.H. Joe Smith lives down the road a piece.

The other Bob Clark (Robert Browning), retired sales manager of the Strathmore Paper Co., Springfield, Mass., lives in Fort Collins, Colo., and besides working in many charitable organizations enjoys golf, watercolor painting and sketching.

Ira Safran has been in the real estate business in Perth Amboy, N.J., since college and reports that as far as being retired it's about half and half. He and Phyllis are moving to Long Branch, N.J.. in July.

Curly Sadler who retired in 1968 after serving 40 years on the Dartmouth faculty keeps busy with environmental conservation on their 440-acre farm in Norwich, plus fly fishing and a little woodworking.

Mac MacEachran of Manitowoc, Wise., definitely has not retired - he is president of the Romort Mfg. Co., a director of five corporations, me insurance company and one bank. He lists as his hobby: Work! Better take a few days off June 11, 12, and 13, Mac, and bring Esther to Reunion.

Another very active classmate is MakieMakepeace, treasurer of A. D. Makepeace Co., Wareham, Mass., the largest firm in the cranberry business. He is also trustee and treasurer of the Tobey Hospital and a life trustee of Tabor Academy.

Jud Moulton has retired as vice president and general counsel of A. T. & T. but remains active as a lawyer with offices at 195 Broadway, New York.

Don Norris is president of Commercial Printing Co 369 Congress St., Boston. His hobbies for 40 years have been golf and squash; he still plays both but says he has slowed way down on the squash.

Si Warner has gathered a wonderful collection of pictures, of '28ers, both prints and slides, to show at Reunion. One picture, taken last year, of John Phillips will have a caption "No, It's NOT a Wig!" John is president of Vail-Ballou Press with his office at 261 Fifth Ave., New York, and a tremendous new plant in Binghamton, N.Y., which John visits every week. He is very active in the Book Manufacturers Institute and served a term as its president.

We wonder how N.J. Bell Telephone is getting on with its security now that Jack Herpel is retired. Jack lists himself as bookkeeper and handyman, and Cornie as general manager of their Antiques and Interior Accessories business on Mt. Kemble Ave., Morristown, .N.J. Jack and Stew Hoagland, who is only semi-retired from the Somerset Press in Somerville, N.J., are co-editors of the class newsletter, than which there is none better.

Since our last notes we have learned of the death of Bill Wheland on December 28 and DickCanton on January 26. The sympathy of the Class is extended to their families.

See you in Hanover! Mary and I hope the flying weather is good June 10 because we will be attending the graduation of our youngest son from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wise., and then flying to Reunion.
