MAY 1973 BLISS KIRBY THORNE D'38

A number of class secretaries have obligingly taken the time to canvass their classmates for news and we're very glad to be able to present some of the results here. Others will follow in subsequent issues of the Alumni Magazine.

We're aware that news items about a particular class have specific interest to that class and perhaps to the preceding and immediately following classes. However, we are using them, as we are here, because we have not yet been able to initiate the proper vehicle to publish them in a more direct way. When our planned "DMS Alumni Newsletter" is rolling from the presses regularly we will include specific class notes as inserts in the newsletters going to the appropriate classes.

All the letters we have received during past months are heartily welcomed and we hope that their numbers grow. Among the alumni we have heard from lately is Sarah Donaldson M'66 who is in Paris. She writes: "I am delighted to hear about a Dartmouth Medical School magazine as well as an Alumni Newsletter.

"As the secretary for the Class of '66, in 1971 and 1972 I circulated post cards to my classmates as a means of obtaining up-to-date information, addresses and general news. I then compiled a brief letter summarizing the news, and sent it to all the classmates. It was well received by all, and was for me especially fun to know first hand all the news.

"As I am now in Paris for a year, from October '72 to October '73, it would not be practical for me to do the same sort of letter as I have in the past years. I have, however, heard from many of the classmates by Christmas cards, and general correspondence, and will share with you the news I now have.

"Perhaps when I return to the United States next October, and again have access to my DMS Alumni file, I can send you more complete information, and circulate another questionnaire. Class of 1966:

Sarah Donaldson - spending a fellowship year at Institute Hustave-Roussy, Villejuif France doing Pediatric Radiation Therapy, as well as enjoying skiing in the French Alps, learning French cuisine, and generally loving the marvelous French life. "C 'est la Vie."

Patricia Cronin Adams - doing general Pediatrics in Berwick, Maine.

Suzie Chagnon Boulter - general Pediatrics and some adolescent counseling in Concord, N.H. Has one daughter, Tracy, and is expecting another child - (practicing her profession.)

John Brooks - married to Christie, presently in Chapel Hill, N.C., but planning to continue his work in Pediatric Respiratory disease at U. of Calif., San Francisco July 1973.

Spencer Borden - a Pediatric Radiologist, now in the service.

Tina Clark Spring - living in San Francisco, doing Pediatrics while husband Dave completes his service obligation.

Bill Dudley - stationed in Manhatten, Kansas, for a military duty - collecting antiques and making wine.

Sandy Hight - stationed in Yuma, Arizona, spends his free time painting and enjoying South- western art.

Dean Moshur - continues his interest in basic science research. Dean and Kathy have two children, Ben and Hilary.

Les Reid - last word from Morgantown, West Va. Les and Sal were continuing to look for every excuse to ski in Aspen.

Paul Reising - Paul and wife Priscilla, are teaching their son Andrew southern comfort and culture while stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama.

Steve Sherman - Steve and Gale are adapting to the sunshine of Sante Fe, New Mexico, after an enjoyable year in Alaska.

"Please accept my apologies for mis-spelled words. Now that I am thinking and speaking French, I find I am forgetting English! I'm sorry my list is not more complete, and more up to date.

"I will follow with interest the possible publication of a DMS magazine and an Alumni newsletter. Until October, 1973 my most reliable address is via my family who forward my mail. Sarah S. Donaldson, M.D., c/o Isabel W. Donaldson, 1537 N.E. 19th, Portland, Oregon 97232. After October 1973, I will join the faculty at Stanford Medical School, Department of Radiation Therapy, Stanford Medical Center, Stanford, California 94304.

"I hope this brief summary will be of help to you."

Sarah's letter will be reprinted and sent to everyone on our list of her classmates.

"As far as personal news I can say I have been appointed an Assistant Professor of 08-GYN at the North Mass. Medical School. This came about as a consequence of the hospital (Wesson Women's Hospital - Springfield, Mass.) where I do practically all of my work, being affiliated with that school and used as an 0B-GYN Training Center for its students. Those of us on the staff who volunteered to help teach the students received appointments.

"I also just moved into a fancy new office with my four partners. We have a sixth man coming in with us this summer.

"Lastly I enjoyed a beautiful week of skiing this winter at Snowbird, Utah - that was a welcome change from the really poor skiing season this winter in New England.

. . . Ron Clarke"

Some additional letters have been arriving as we prepare this column and we plan to publish them at the first opportunity.
