UPNE Adds Members
MAY 1973

The University Press of New England, headquartered in Hanover, has a new institutional member — the University of Rhode Island.

The UPNE, only regional university press in existence, was until Rhode Island's inclusion a' consortium of five: Dartmouth, Brandeis, Clark, and the Universities of New Hampshire and Vermont.

The press was formed early in 1971 by the College and the University of New Hampshire for the purpose of publishing scholarly manuscripts and other books relating to the life and culture of New England. The original plan to call it the University Press of Northern New England was abandoned as the two Massachusetts institutions indicated early interest.
