It was bound to happen sooner or later: a month when no one in the Class submitted anything to this column. Well, guys, this was the month. We had been doing very well with at least two classmates sending in interesting letters for each issue. Maybe a combination of complacency and spring fever did us in. Whatever the reasons, if this column looks rather skimpy to you, sandwiched in between long columns for the classes of 1960 and 1962, the one and only way for you to do something about it is to sit down immediately and contribute a letter about what you and your family are doing.

There must be many interesting stories out there waiting to be told. The Alumni Records Office provides us with a class list giving the name and latest known address of each classmate. Skimming through this directory, we cannot help but wonder what our friends are up to as they have scattered all over the country and the world. What is Bob Evans doing in Bethany, Okla? Phil Oehler in Huntington Beach, Calif.? Dave Smith in St. Louis, Mo.? Sam Baker in Seattle, Wash.? What's doing with Bob Fuller, Wayne Snow, Jack Zulick or Paul Gahn? These are but a few of the questions that come up as you read through the names in our class list. The only way we will ever know is if each of us or our wives or our fellow classmates write and contribute to the column.

This month we did get some input from the Alumni Fund. On the positive side, as of April 30, we were seven donors and $2,133 ahead of the same date last year. On the negative side, we were running last in the Green Derby competition with the classes in Group VII, 1960-1966. It is a bit disheartening, isn't it, to see younger classes do better than ours. Why do you suppose '61 always seems to do so poorly in Alumni Fund competition, especially in participation?

The College's clipping service did send us two pieces of information. First, we are pleased to report that Allen Ward is now on the Associate Staff at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, Mass. Allen went from Dartmouth to the Tufts University School of Medicine. From there he became an intern and resident at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. Later, he was a resident at Boston City Hospital and a fellow in Oncology at University Hospital in Boston.

Our second news item is the sudden passing away of Charlie Boynton's wife Betty at their home on Wednesday, March 21 due to cardiac arrest. Betty was an active gal, interested in many things, especially aviation. She held a private pilot's license, was a feature writer for FlyingMagazine, and was herself the feature of an article on women aviatrices in CosmopolitanMagazine. The Class extends its deepest sympathy to Charlie and his two children. Classmates wishing to contact Charlie may write to him at R.D. 3, Lebanon, N.J. 08833.
