This is the last column before the summer recess. It will be short because the trickle of news we normally receive each month did not arrive this time around. In fact, in reviewing the year that is now ending, there were several occasions when the flow of news was so meager as to suggest that many fellows in our class simply are not interested in having a column in the Alumni Magazine. Is this correct?

"While flipping through the 1961 Aegis recently, our eye caught the spread on Palaeopitus on page 159. A couple of phrases from the text were interesting: "Palaeopitus is the senior executive committee of student government" and "the men in white act as the permanent authoritites for the preservation and administration of the Dartmouth traditions." In other words, these 11 men were considered to be the really BIG GUNS of our Class when we were undergraduates. Where are they now? Are they "senior executives" in business, professional or community life? Are they still "preserving and administering Dartmouth traditions"? A few have contributed to this column. We'd like to encourage those who haven't to spend some time over the summer to write to this column and share their experiences and observations with their classmates.

After we have heard from Palaeopitus, perhaps we can hear from the 25 guys who were Phi Beta Kappas, then from the six classmates fortunate enough to be chosen as Senior Fellows, and so forth. Many in our class who were prominent as undergraduates have, as far as Dartmouth and the Class are concerned, dropped from sight. Why? We encourage our undergraduate leaders to use this column, beginning in September, to reveal their whereabouts and current interests.

From Radnor, Pa., comes this note from Date Prewitt: "Joani and I are now living in the Philadelphia area. I practice law in downtown Pniladelphia. About once a year we see Ken andMary Quickel in Danville, Pa., where Ken is a doctor on the staff of the Geissinger Clinic." Speaking of Pennsylvanians, Paul and LyndaHeimer of Lancaster will again be heading to Nantucket Island this summer where Paul will serve for two weeks as the Naval Reserve dentist the Island's small Naval Station. Who said military life was hard.to take?

We are saddened to learn of the death on February 11 of John Williams Jr. in Columbus, Ohio. Those who wish to contact his widow Marilyn may write to her at 59 W. Schreyer Place, Columbus, Ohio 43214.
