"Fourscore and twenty, that's a plenty, But the Twelvers don't give up; Find life's nectar still is heady. Want the last drop in the cup."
The above is the latest from our Class Poet Laureate, Stan Lovell, famous in World War II as a member of Wild Bill Donovan's OSS and author of the volume Of Spies & Strategems. In his last letter to the secretary Stan makes "a simple request for a cheering hello." Skip the ravages of old age; he has enough of those.
Henry Stevens' latest book, Para-Desa, stimulated our Billboard Editor, Joe Doe, to have the temerity to ask the secretary for a review of it. That was really expecting too much for one immersed in medical historical lore. Henry far surpasses the talents of any of us.
Doc and Florence Powers celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a party on October 5. After renewing their vows in the chapel of Tilton Academy they held a reception on the grounds of Tilton Mansion where they lived for many years. It brought together a large group of guests, among them Connie and KatherineSnow.
Our Reunion Chairman, Quech French, more than once has been advocating meeting elsewhere rather than in Hanover. We have the bright idea that we might hold our next reunion at Quechee Lakes with its recreational facilities and quiet country lanes. It even has a golf course which might induce Jim Oneal to come east. How about it, Quech?
Our loyal and beloved Class Agent, SamHobbs, left us on October 21, 1975, almost three weeks after admission to the hospital. This is a grievous loss in 1912. Our deep affection and sympathy goes out to Marian and the family.
May the joys of the Christmas season be yours and the fond hopes expressed on New Year's Day give you a new lift for the coming year.
