To lose any member of the Class is a sad event but to lose the Class President E. Parker Hayden is 9 class tragedy. His letter to the class secretary gave an outline of his planned activities for a weekend - Penn-Dartmouth game in Hanover and a stay at the "hide-away" farm deep in the woods of Tunbridge, Vt. Then the startling phone call on October 12 that Parker had died.
What a record this man has given us - he was cited as the "Class President of 1975" and elected to the executive committee of the General Association of Alumni all in the same year, denoting the recognition he received for his dedication to the Class and the College.
One other thing he left us to ponder and do likewise - to carry our physical afflictions as lightly as possible and apply ourselves in our work and associations with others. That is the way Parker lived.
He had one other unusual trait — unusual for a doctor; did you ever try to read their prescriptions? Parker's hand writing was perfect and every word was legible — he has redeemed the profession by his writing.
His obituary appears in this issue.
