Eight years ago at this time the Class of '71 had just returned home after its first term at Dartmouth. We were comparing experiences with high school friends and perhaps wondering if we really wanted to go back in January. Most of us did return and grew to anticipate returning after each "vacation" ... now we've been away from Dartmouth longer than we were there.

Ahem. On to the last column of 1975, wedding department. Dave Hill and Kathy Wren were married in Winnipeg way back on July 5; Mike Furey and Bob Osborne were on hand to keep the festivities going. Dave is a lawyer in Winnipeg while Kathy spends her spare time attending medical school.

Dick Burnham wed Nechema Pheterson in Baltimore last July 27. Dick is in his second year at Telshe Yeshiv in Wickliffe, Ohio.

More recently (October 4) Chuck Bent traveled to Chadds Ford, Pa., to marry Robin Nield, a Bennett College alumna. They live in Canaan where Chuck is a builder and is occasionally known to ski a little.

On the international front, Hans-WolfgangPfahler has left London and returned home to Wurzburg - via the Hanover Plain (not a bad trick). He's, teaching English and European History at the grammar school level. As of February first Robert Jost will be about 100 miles away in Zweibrucken, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Bob, who's been stationed at Fort Huachuca in Arizona, says that he and his wife are looking forward to what will definitely be a change of pace.

On the other side of the world, Steve Frondorf has been working in Melbourne for a year and will be moving to Sydney in the near future. Steve says that life in Australia is great except for the high taxes; apparently not everybody hates Qantas.

It's becoming clear that there are even more '71 doctors than lawyers. Dave Sullivan has graduated from the B.U. School of Medicine and elected to stay in New England with an internship at Hartford (Connecticut) Hospital.

Steve Haines, on the other hand, has taken his M.D. and journeyed from Vermont to a surgical residency at the University of Minnesota. It looks like sons Chris and Jeremy may well be hockey players rather than skiers - and hello to Steve's wife Heather.

Don Eberly, a University of Florida Med School graduate, has taken a surgical residency at the University of Vermont. Another surgeon, Mike DePetrillo, has graduated from Columbia and is an intern at Roosevelt Hospital right here in The Big Apple.

Ed Downing, a May graduate of Tufts Med School, has begun his internship in internal medicine at The Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Bob Sprinkle, late of the University of Cincinnati, is in Charlottesville for three years as a resident in family practice at UVa.

Joe Jarrett graduated from West Virginia University Med School and has begun an internship at Charleston Memorial Hospital, accompanied by wife Nancy and son Flynn, who is approaching his first birthday.

Last but not least, Jim Knox is now Assistant Staff Judge Advocate at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. The printable portion of Knoxie's letter inquired into the whereabouts of any '71s in the area.

Since most of this month's news came from class dues cards via Bob Schnabel we feel obligated to remind you to send Bob the money - and be sure to scribble something on the back of the card.

That's it. Have a happy holiday and remember June 18-20.

Dartmouth '74 joined forces in Augusta, Me., for the wedding of Dick Spellman toDeborah Bourassa (Mount Holyoke '75): front, 1, Jeff Scott, Don Bourassa, DickSpellman, Rick Bettes; rear, Jim Regan, Dave Thompson and Duncan Todd.
