Do you ever wonder by exactly what decree, by what manipulations, an alumni-class reunion actually happens? It's a bit like that truly astonishing moment when a U.S. President is inaugurated; an authority utterly invisible and intangible invests the gentleman with perhaps the greatest responsibility on earth - and we all seem to agree that yes, indeed he is President. Maybe reunion committees operate in the vacuum of a similar popular naivete. Ours is trying hard not to operate in this fashion, which may be a losing battle, which may be no great cause for self-recrimination after all. One thing is certain - the tents will go up and the beer will go down in June.

In order that we all may be spared at least a few "and what are you doings," please scan the following Reunion Primer ...

Michael and Gail Bruell have sponsored their second child, son Christopher. Daughter Heather is now a two-year-old. Chuck and MegSeelbach were expecting a similar addition at last word - that word coming via Mark Heller out of Cleveland.

Following two years service as New Hampshire State Probation Officer, DavidSawyer was appointed United States Probation Officer a little over one year ago. He was also commissioned 2nd lieutenant, U.S. Army Reserves, last August, one of the first 20 officers so commissioned under President Ford, which he construes as a "dubious distinction!"

"Pay is low, rent is high," reports JohnBuschmann from Lewiston, Maine. John wed Lois Ann Otto of Los Angeles way back in October, 1973, "after summering in Alaska." He now works on municipal tax maps for the State 'o Maine.

Another couple on the brink of parenthood - William (Gary) Miller and wife Debbie (Green Mountain '69). Gary is still a Navy pilot, has been promoted to lieutenant, and has joined a new squadron which he helped commission last summer in Norfolk, Va.

Terry Claassen signals from the nation's capital that he is presently serving a two-year term as a member of the five-man board of directors of the International Legal Fraternity Phi Delta Phi. He continues in the evening division of Georgetown Law School, and is the first student ever elected to serve on the aforementioned board of directors. For recreation, Terry is also a member of the finance committee of the District of Columbia Republican Party. SandraAllen relates that husband Hoyt "... is now frantically scurrying around as an intern at the Naval Regional Medical Center, San Diego. We are enjoying San Diego tremendously and look forward to our next few years here while Hoyt goes through his surgical residencies. Rob Peterson and wife Carol stopped by recently before reluctantly heading east . .

No calligrapher is Rob Hillas, who otherwise is in Manhattan working in the suprise-packed world of venture capital ("like loans to GM, for example"). Quips our boy "I'm still single and generally enjoying New York, although there are times when I wake up scratching my head." (That line has got to be among the great evocations of the predicament of modern man!)

Ah, here is Peter Bradstreet in Bath, N.Y., practising law. He married Susan Scott (Cornell '70) in August 1970 (First time you've paid your dues, eh Pete?). "We have riparian rights in a lake," remarks our wag, "and one Dapoonja." Philip Robertson was last seen on his way to Palo Alto, Calif., to begin a job as a stockbroker, his baby face and scraggly 'stash cleverly hiding his ability to wheel and deal, and his intent to buy California from Bob Hope. JimDonahue is in Boston pursuing an MBA. Jim says he likes reading the Alumni Mag to see where everyone is. You're in Boston, Jim."

Quickie from Cliff Clifford: "Graduated from Rutgers Graduate School of Business in August 1974. Presently employed by Peat, Warwick, Mitchell & Co., certified public accountants. as an assistant."

Got a couple of fellows in Philly, Jon C. Oplinger notes that he is "doing" civil trial work in that location (those who know Philadelphia will understand the present participle). JeffDahlman also reads the law with the firm of Begley, Carlin, Mandio, Kelton and Popkin, in Bucks County.

And finally, Alan Kaplan pretends to have received his degree from Boston College Law School, and further to have been admitted to the Connecticut bar. This seems entirely true, as he is now employed as an attorney for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C.

That's it lads. Beginning to wonder if I'll recognize my old roommates without a nametag!
