Do you suffer from depression, listlessness, lack of motivation, hair loss? These are all symptoms of a common but little-known disease, Hanostalgia. Several top researchers at world-renowned Dick Hall's House have studied these ailments and discovered an antidote: writing one's class secretary. Apparently the badgering from this end has roused the consciences of a few, as information on our endangered species, the '74, has slowly trickled this way.

Bob "Purple" Hayes reported in from Langenthal, Switzerland, where he and his wife, Merri Lynn, are living while Purple plays hockey for a local team. He played hockey during the summer in Cortina, Italy, and managed to have an international reunion with Jim Regan, who is in John Hopkins' two-year International Relations program in Bologna. Purple says that he will return to the states after his money runs out on June 26 (at 4:56 p.m.).

Charles Nabrit is now a district representative, automotive glass replacement market, in Libbey-Owens-Ford Company's Fort Lee, N.J., sales district. Since graduation he had been taking part in an extensive training program at LOF factories and the company's executive and field sales offices. Charles came to the College from Rogers High School in Toledo and was active in track as undergraduate. He also spent some time in Mexico on Foreign Language Study and was a member of the Afro-American Society on campus.

An anonymous note from the Boston area informs us that Kirt Pruyn has gone to Zaire as a purchasing agent for a construction company. Since the Dartmouth Club in Zaire is not too active, I'm sure Kirt would appreciate any contact from old buddies. His address: Constructeurs Inga-Shaba, BP 15698, Kinshasa, Republique du Zaire.

The wedding pace has picked up again. Donald "Doc" Blanchard married Pat Samuels (Smith '74) in October; Don Smith flew to New York from Seattle to be best man. Doc and Pat are now living in Syosset, Long Island, as Doc is a senior programmer for PRD Electronics. KentAllenby has signed on at George Washington Med School on a Navy Medical Scholarship. Since July his First Mate (my apologies to Steve Quigley) has been the former Diantha Johnson, long-time Holyoke honey. Tom Lord, is grinding it out at Maryland Law School, took the time to write that Bob Minck is not far away at the University of Delaware as a grad student in geophysics. By the time of this printing Bob has tied the knot with his hometown lass in the presence of many '74s.

Steve "Frog" Gilford is at Duke Law School enjoying the mild winters, while wife Ann, who teaches, is the breadwinner. Two classmates who graduated early are winding up their second year at med school. Dave Powers is at Penn where he is already into his medical clerkships, and Steve Koenig is in New York City at Cornell Med. Steve reportedly went hunting off the coast of Martinique during Christmas vacation.

Bill Halleger is working in Denver as an exploration geologist for the Anaconda Company's Uranium Division. Tired of feeling like a Desert Rat from so much time in Utah, he plans to hit grad school next year. Ken Stowe is "teaching high school brats math, physics, and how to fly with skis and with Rogallo Wings at Lyndon Institute (Vt.)." Working as an editorial assistant for Porter Sargent Publisher in Boston is Cathy Johnson.

Back in Hanover, Fred Stevens is about to finish up a long and illustrious career at Dartmouth. During the fall he coached freshmen football with Simon Etzel and Rick Gerardi. Simon is going to Thayer School and, believe it or not, "Guido" worked as a campus policeman before he departed for California to work as a legal aide. Bob Stevenson is an übiquitous figure around campus and the sub-terranean taprooms of Webster Avenue during his first year at Tuck. Herb Hopkins has been spotted in Hanover several weekends as he escapes the reality of his job with Norton and Company. When asked how his employment with this abrasives company was going, Herbie mumbled something that sounded like "socks."

A letter from Bruce "Willie" Williamson reported on the large contingent of '74s at Chicago B School: Mark Schulte, Ken Wachtel,Mark Ransom, Tom Schaberg, Tom Ludlow, and Kirk "Lobo" Hinman. Mark Ransom apparently yearns for his Bonnie on this side of the Atlantic and Tom Ludlow now has a spouse, Jane. Plans are being made for a Winter Carnival in Chicago. Willie also mentioned that BillHart is working at Northern Trust Bank in the Trust Department and taking a full load of night business courses at Northwestern. Linda Hinman writes that she is working in the Graduate School of Social Science Dean's Office at Chicago while Lobo crackes the books. She also informs us that Willie's honey, Janet Bagley, could not hack the 1500 mile road trips from Washington and has moved to Chicago.

Drew Newman is presently in Iran trying out several different jobs while trying to learn the language. He returned to the U.S. for a short time around Christmas but plans to stay abroad for at least two more years. He revels in his newfound freedom, and says that Israel may eventually be on his itinerary. His illegible scrawl precluded the extraction of any other information.

Thinking of Drew in Iran reminds one of the old Persian proverb, "Trust in God, but tie your camel." Until next month.
