Ira Berman is fortunate to have his son Roger guiding the leathercraft department of his business. This relatively new component of the Berman Leather Company is doing remarkably well by virtue of Roger's talents and progressive direction. Ira and Gabbie's other son Robert attends the University of Massachusetts and is spending the spring term of his junior year at Wroxton College in England. Between classes and during long weekends he spends much of his time tracking down the latest leather products on the Isles. These symptoms suggest further family expansion of the business, perhaps with the development of an international arm. Ira also notes that his good friend Charlie Sturz has merged with his sons in the wholesale baking business. This places Charlie in partial retirement and gives him an opportunity to supervise the construction of his dreamhouse in the Woodstock, Vt., area. It is our understanding that Charlie's sons, Ronald and Paul, are doing a great job with the business. Ira also has some interesting news about Ed Hawkridge. Several years ago Ed sold out his steel company and after working a few years for the new owners he became a business administrator for the Massachusetts Superior Court system. Ed has extended his judiciary interest to the point where he is now attending Suffolk Law School on a part-time basis. Just when he will have his law degree has not been revealed. Ed may be the oldest serious student in our Class. Both he and his wife Edie are to be commended for sacrifices which they are making in the course of developing Ed's new career.

Warren Kreter's son Bill lettered in wrestling as a freshman at Dartmouth this year. Krete also has pointed out that Bob Encherman's son Billy has just been admitted to Tuck School. Another note of interest is the fact that DickLippman again is in Europe to visit his daughter Debbie who has been attending school in both Spain and France, this year.

Dave Heald has been appointed senior vice president for marketing by Investors Mortgage Insurance Company of Boston. He has been the firm's vice president and national sales manager since 1972. Congratulations, again, Dave, for this very nice promotion.

Lyman Whittaker has just been elected president of the Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and District of Columbia Hospital Association. The association provides a regional approach to improving hospital health care, coordinates year-round educational programs and conducts a conference each year for member institutions. Lyman's primary position is that of administrator for the Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis, Md.

The return journey to the States via Hong Kong was not particularly productive in terms of '42 contacts, but it was a great experience. The Chinese University of Hong Kong is a far cry from Dartmouth, but it is a beautiful new school with a spectacular location in the New Territories. Both schools have many similar problems, but we are fortunate in having experienced faculty and administrators and dedicated alumni to assist in the resolution of many of the issues. Each of us as an alumnus has a great obligation to Dartmouth which we must meet through our participation in the Alumni Fund. This is the best way we can assure continuation of a superior educational system for all Dartmouth undergraduates, faculty and alumni.
