This is our last column until fall due to a change in the publication schedule of the Magazine which will eliminate the July issue and replace it with a September issue. There will be no class notes in September, but there will be complete June reunion reports, as well as a detailed list of planned fall reunions.

Our heartfelt congratulations to Bill Dewey for his election as class president, succeeding George Farrand; to Bud King, who fills Randy Valensi's vacancy on the executive committee; and to the new additional executive committee members, as announced in Bob Fox's recent Newsletter, all of whom will serve until our next reunion in June, 1978. Also, our thanks to BillLang and the other members of the nominating committee and to the executive committee members for their thoughtful and effective ef- forts.

As mentioned in the May column, we are trying another "first" for the 1933 fall reunion by scheduling the get-together after the Penn game on October 11 at the "Vermont Room," Hotel Coolidge, White River Jet., Vt. The Room will De available to 33'ers, plus wives and guests, immediately after the game, offering a special cash bar and a prime rib of beef dinner. Let's make this an outstanding affair as a kick-off under Bill Dewey's presidency. Make your room reservations now, and please let me know at the above address or by telephone (802-649-1924) as soon as your plans are complete. A Hanover reunion weekend is great fun and especially with the added attractions!

As of this writing, the Alumni Fund results continue to be promising both in terms of the $4,000,000-Plus goal and the goal of achieving 60% participation. I am confident that these goals will be reached, and the margin of success may well be contributions received within the next week or ten days, before the end of the campaign. If by chance you haven't given, do so now and please consider adding 10% to your last year's gift to help 1933 reach our unofficial goal of $66,000. Thanks!

Five members of the Class have been singled out for special recognition and honors. Our sincere congratulations to each of them -

Jud Pierson, as noted in the May issue, our bequest chairman and executive committee member, was honored with an Alumni Award at the 14th annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club of the Upper Valley in Hanover on April 11, in recognition of his continuing major contributions to the College and to the community.

Jus Stanley has been nominated as presidentelect of the American Bar Association, a 190,000 member legal organization. He will become president in August, 1976 for a one-year term. Currently chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois, Jus is past president of the Chicago Bar Association and served as co-chairman of a joint Chicago Bar Association-Illinois State Bar Association committee to review lawyer disciplinary procedures in Illinois. He is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Hank Smith, our executive committee member and the former congressman from North Tonowanda, N.Y., has been appointed by President Ford as the U.S. co-chairman of the International Joint Commission between the U.S. and Canada, which is the main institution through which the two countries cooperate in resolving problems along their common frontier, and other problems of mutual concern. The Commission has two headquarters offices - Washington and Ottawa - and has recently established a regional office in Windsor, Ontario. Hank's Washington address will be: 1717 H Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20440.

On the occasion of the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Minnesota on April 22, John Faegre was honored for his outstanding personal accomplishment and contribution as chairman of the scholarship fund committee of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Northwest during the past 25 years. The continuing growth and success of the Scholarship Fund and program, the principal of which is in excess of $300,000, is a great tribute to John's leadership and loyalty.

The chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has recently announced the appointment of John Reed to head the Office of Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 1975. Before going to UWGB in 1970 as professor and chairman of ecosystems analysis, he served for eight years as president of Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo., and from 1956 to 1962, at the University of N.H., he served successively as professor of botany, dean of the Graduate School, dean of the College of Liberal Arts, vice president, and acting president.

Have a good summer and do try to attend the fall-reunion in Hanover on October 11, if distance and your plans make this feasible. In the interim, if you can find time for a letter or card regarding your summer activities, it will be of interest not only to me but to your other classmates.
