45TH REUNION - JUNE 11-13, 1979.

Can you believe that our 45th reunion in Hanover with the Classes of 1934 and 1935 is only 10 weeks away? With the severe winter weather experienced by such a large part of the country during the last three or four months, it's nice to be able to look forward to warmer weather and to a great gathering coming up at our 45th.

One of the greatest pleasures of the reunion is the renewing of friendships with other class members and wives and widows, and particularly in Hanover. The reunion committee is still anticipating total attendance of over 200, including 100 classmates, plus wives, widows, children, and guests.

How about the class dinner at the Hanover Inn on Tuesday evening (June 12), which should be outstanding and undoubtedly the high point of the reunion? Also, how about the class meeting on Tuesday morning and all of the special offerings being planned for the breakfasts, lunches, cocktail parties, and other dinners? And how about the special College programs during reunion week, including the alumni dinner, an address by President Kemeny, a reunion seminar, graduate school meetings, concerts by the Dartmouth Glee Clubs, and much more? These are just a few of the appealing reunion activities to look forward to.

You will have recently received the reunion fee schedule from John Rockwell, so please mail your deposit to the reunion treasurer, Mel Katz. Then in April the College will provide applica- tion forms for rooms in the Massachusetts Row dormitories, which have been assigned to 1933. Dormitory rates will be as follows: Adults, $10 per person per night; children 18 and under, $8 per night per person. Applications and payments are to be mailed to the manager of student housing.

You will have to be there to enjoy it, and your many friends are looking forward to enjoying our 45th reunion with you and your family.

In less than two weeks the 1979 Alumni Fund campaign will be launched, and we need to give early attention and generous support to our 45th reunion gift to the College through the Alumni Fund. In doing this, we also need to give careful further consideration to the $160-million Campaign for Dartmouth over the five-year period from 1978 to 1982, which involves a reasonable balance between an individual's and the Class's overall giving of funds for current use as opposed to endowment and specified capital needs.

You will receive further reminders during the months ahead from Mannie Sprague and his corps of agents. You can be sure that every measure possible is being taken to maximize the total support and to avoid duplication of solicitation.

According to news from the Hanover area, Jack and Madge Wright enjoyed a six-week freighter trip to South America during and after the holidays; John and Phyl Rockwell spent a month over the holidays with their daughter in Oak Park, Ill.; Jack and Dorothy Manchester were in southwest Florida for the past three months; and Jud Pierson is serving with Ron Campion '56 to co-chair Leadership Gifts for the Hanover area in the Campaign for Dartmouth.

With sorrow we have to add two more to those who have passed away, both from Columbus, Ohio; Bill Brown died December 13, 1978, and Bill Atwood (formerly of Bangor, Maine) died December 20, 1978. Obituaries will appear in this or a later issue.

We sincerely hope that you and your family will be with us at our 45th reunion.
