Summer is about to end, and once again class secretaries sit down to their typewriters to record happenings since our last issue. It hardly seems possible that a new year is about to begin, that once again a fall get-together is in the offing; for those who like to look backward, it is fifty-six years since the Class set foot on the Hanover plain!

To start the news, there have been several occurrences during the summer on which the secretary can personally report. The VanHuycks visited the Cape early in the summer and were the honored guests at a Dartmouth party which included the Rolly Barkers and the Bents. It was good to see them, particularly to find Lou able to travel and walk after her many problems. The Bents also enjoyed a visit from the Wheatleys, and a luncheon party at the Wheatleys' home in Abington, with the Jenkinses, Holmlunds, Beatie Adams, HelenCarl and Kay Spaulding. Another visitor to the Cape recently was Genia Dickinson, accompanied by her son Mike and a grandson from Colorado.

A note has been received from Ed Jones reporting that he is still involved in business, still playing tennis, and enjoying life Costa Rica style.

Alex and Bess Gibson keep busy in Mclndoe Falls, Vt. In the spring they took an extended bus trip throughout the southern states as far as Austin, Texas.

The Bents recently enjoyed a visit with the Blodgetts; Charlotte has been greatly helped by last winter's hip operation, and it was good to find them in such good spirits. On the same visit to the north country we visited the Aliens, who were about to leave for their annual trip to Maine.

Howard Bissell has retired from the firm of Howard S. Bissell, Inc., mortgage bankers, but continues active with consulting and a small legal business.

A note from Ed Jones (Jones Dairy Farm) reports that he and his wife, Helen, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip through the far east, returning by way of Australia and New Zealand. Our congratulations on your 50th, Ed.

And speaking of 50th wedding anniversaries, Sam and Harriet Lamson will celebrate theirs about the time this is published. Congratulations from the Class, and an extra-personal note from their best man.

The Ted Nilsens, after a summer in Andover, will spend several weeks in Europe before going home to Sarasota.

We regret to report the deaths of four classmates: Henry Kelly on July 23, Jeff Carqueville on August 2, Brad Hersey on August 11, and Si Geilich on August 29.

As you read these notes another fall weekend party will have been held at Bonnie Oaks. Hopefully we will have seen many of you there and in Hanover, and 1 am sure that we can say to those of you who do not make it, you missed a good party.

A good turnout for '24 at February mini-reunion in Los Angeles: from left, Kay andFranklin Rolfe, Bess Rothschild, Ashton Castle, Helen Drake, President Jimmie andHelen Reid, Keith Drake, and John Barlow. Leon Rothschild was the cameraman.
