With this issue of the Magazine, the newlyelected secretary of the Class, assumes the responsibility of authorship of the class notes, a responsibility carried so long and so effectively, by Chinee Allen. It is a difficult assignment to follow in his footsteps, and I trust you will give the new secretary the same cooperation and assistance you gave to Chinee. Classmates make the news, so vital to class notes, so please bear in mind, classmates of 1924, that the same mail service goes to South Yarmouth, Mass., as to 2 Brewster Road, Hanover.

One of the first acts of our new Chairman Jimmie Reid has been the formation of a committee to review the status of some 60 classmates, who are presently inactive or disinterested in class affairs. The committee consists of Larry Hewes, as chairman, assisted by Spud Spaulding and Chinee Allen. They are working on plans to check on these classmates, to find out why they have lost interest in the Class, and in the College, and attempt to restore them to active participation in class activities. More will be heard from Larry later, particularly after the fall meeting of the executive committee. At this meeting other matters regarding class activities, will also be considered.

An up-to-the-minute report from Don Wilbur on the 50th Reunion:

"The 50th Reunion Committee reports that the close of the reunion books, shows a surplus of about $ 1,400, which will be available for class use. This excess is due to the fact that some classmates did not have breakfasts with the Class and also to the fact that the consumption of beverages was less than is normal for the 50-Year Class. (Ed. note - no comment). The advance budget of the committee was a very tight one and the result is a happy one.

"The Committee wishes to thank, the many classmates who wrote in after the affair, expressing their great pleasure in having been present and their thanks to the committee for an enjoyable weekend."

Along with other class problems, considered at the 50th, not the least was the mystery of the 1924 Clock. In order that all may be aware of the problem, here is the story: There is a clock, now hanging in the office of the College Power Plant, on the front of which is the inscription "Presented by the Class of 1924." It is in excellent condition and according to reliable information, it was previously located in Wilder, before being transferred to its present location several years ago. The question facing the Class is: When was it presented, why, and by whom? Suitable recognition, and possibly even a small reward will be given to the classmate, or anyone else, who comes up with the answer.

Word has been received of the death of PaulWright on June 27. An obituary will appear in the Magazine and Chinee has written a note to Mrs. Wright, expressing the sympathy of the Class.

Adding to the list of retirees: Rev. AlbertAnderson, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Southbridge, Mass., and the Charlton, Mass., Methodist Church. Although retired, he will assume duties at the Nantucket, Mass., Methodist Church, where he is now making his home.

As I write these notes, Bonnie Oaks is in the offing, and in case you need a reminder, it's time to send applications for football tickets. That means summer is over and, as we learned years ago, Tempus Fugit!

The Class of '24, celebrating its 50th inJune, chose James M. Reid as chairman.
