Ray Smith is in Iran delving into the lore of that ancient and fascinating kingdom. I did read a couple of articles which attempted to tell what he is doing over there, but I will await his own report which should be forthcoming on his return in November.

lone and I have just returned from the New Hampshire football weekend in Hanover. It was most enjoyable. We joined with '19 for the pregame luncheon and with '17 for the post-game dinner. There were a few cocktails floating around too. Luncheon had to be somewhat abbreviated because of the 1:30 kickoff, but dinner was another matter. Arch Earle '17, really gave the piano a going-over, so song was the order of the day, along with an occasional dance step. Arch still retains that old beat, and he even made the volunteer choristers sound good. It was a most enjoyable evening and many an old friendship was renewed and some new ones started. '18ers on hand were Sargent, Barr,Bingham, White, Stoddard, Von Kapf, Burgess,Bill Montgomery, Don Davis, Felt, Bryant,Blandin, and Lois Morse, who certainly qualifies as an '18er. Spouses were present in nearly all cases, much to our delight. Those who were in Hanover Friday were invited to a lovely dinner party given by Ethel and Don Barr. They had Mt. Ascutney looking its best, and the New Hampshire hills were not far behind.

Bill Bemis died on September 16. He had been in failing health for two or three years. He will be remembered for his numerous Dartmouth activities - especially for his outstanding contributions to the Alumni Fund - and for his distinguished law career in Cleveland.

Edith Wiley writes as follows: "Dear George and lone: I like to think of the visits Walter and I have had in your home. I know so few of Walter's classmates. It was good to receive the 1918 Roar and to know that I'm still a part of the Class.

"I've wanted to say 'thank you' to the Class for giving a book to the library in Walter's name. You are correct when you say that GeneClark has been a source of strength to me. He and Betty came for an over-night stay soon after Walter went. We had visited them last fall. They seem quite near. Best wishes to the Class. Edith Wiley."

A recent number of the Harvard Law SchoolMagazine contained a photograph of Francisand Catherine Christy attending his 55th reuntion. He had a very distinguished law career in New York City, a considerable portion of it devoted to Rockefeller Center.

Francis Christy 18 and wife Catherine set a spell at Harvard Law reunion.
