Another year has come to an end; at least, another year for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE We now have a couple of months of rest before we start again. And this is the big one. This fan marks the start of our 25th Reunion season and ends with the big week in June of '77, just about one year from the date you will be reading this report. I know you don't feel that old and you certainly haven't changed that much. A little less hair, maybe, and a little more around the center section, possibly; but, all things considered, you are in pretty good shape. So, now it is time to start making plans for getting back to Hanover. Jack Boyle, our reunion chairman, is making his plans, forming his committees, developing his budget, and looking for ways to make our 25th the greatest ever. We hope you too, are making the neccessary arrangements and getting the budget in shape.

To start with, why don't you mark your calendar for the weekend of October 15-16 and plan to be in Hanover that weekend? As reported earlier, that is the weekend of the Harvard game and Friday, the 15th, will be Dartmouth night. Bill Breed, social chairman, will provide all the details through the class newsletter, but he has lined up a great weekend for the Class. He has reserved good hotel space nearby (two places actually), he has arranged for an excellent cocktail party and dinner after the game Saturday, and, the athletic department willing, we are supposed to get the best seats in the house for the game. The season, by the way, starts earlier this year which accounts for the earlier Harvard game date.

When I spoke with Bill about the above plans he also told me he had arranged a "first" as far as I know. He has set up a cookout for mid-May for all the sons and daughters of members of our Class now in Hanover. Frank Logan is also in on the plans, as are wives and others, I imagine. Frank has sent me the complete list of our offspring in Hanover and it is quite impressive. Since the College is on the four term system not all students are in attendance this quarter, but the total is quite large. There is one graduate student, and there are 12 seniors, 18 juniors (who will be graduating around our reunion), 15 sophomores and 27 freshman! I could bore you with all kinds of statistics about the mix of the sexes, geographic distribution, etc. Suffice it to say, it looks like a great group. I hope their cookout was a big success and can be repeated.

Not long ago we reported on the news of Bill Kay who had recently moved to Connecticut and had become president of Standard Brand Foods in New York. We have just learned that Bill has been elected executive vice president of Sun Company, Inc. (formerly Sun Oil) and he will be headquartered in the Philadelphia area. Since the move just took place the first of June we don't have any further details, but we assume we will hear more, because, as you know, the people at Sun "can be very friendly".

Another frequent name in the news has popped up again. Roy Abbott, after a number of years as a top officer of Gulf+Western, has resigned to become executive vice president and director of Lambert Brussels Witter, Inc. in New York. The company is a new organization formed by William D. Witter and Bank Lambert interests. Roy will be responsible for the company's corporate financial services and investment banking, both in the U.S. and overseas. Prior to joining Gulf-Western, Roy was an officer at Chase Manhattan.

Passed through Dallas the other day and made a call at the Supermarket Institute which was holding its annual convention. While there I caught a glimpse of Riley Daniels at the Sweda International display of point-of-sale systems. Sweda, a subsidiary or division of Litton Industries, is heavily involved in this business and, since Riley was heavily involved with customers at the time, I chose not to interupt. I noticed that Monarch Marking Systems, a subsidiary of Pitney-Bowes, also had an exhibit and tried to locate Tom Loemker. Tom was registered, but was not at the show when I was there. Tom is president of the Company. This should serve as fair warning, though. The class secretary is everywhere.

The worst part of this job, and, of course, the saddest, is to report the death of one of our classmates. I am very sorry to report the passing of Sam Harned in April of this year. Full details will appear elsewhere. Sam was one of our best liked friends and he will be sorely missed.

We hope this start of the summer season will spur your thinking about joining the Class for our reunion and please don't forget your contribution to this year's Alumni Fund drive. There is not much time left.
