Jim and Debbie Griffiths did it again. With superb teamwork and planning, they arranged a wonderful mini-reunion weekend for 67 of us who arrived in Hanover for a grand time. The Dartmouth Night parade was nostalgic as we rode in leisure onjim's haywagon. We received applause for our large turnout and the fact that we were shrewd enough to ride instead of walk. The bonfire was sensational, the tailgate party was relaxing, the weather was gorgeous, and the football game ended in a victory for the Big Green. The festivities at Pierce's Lodge in the evening could not have been better unless you had been there. Make plans to join us next year for the Yale weekend, October 16—18, 1992.
Who did make it to Hanover? Mo and Karin Harvey were there with Erik 15, but without the two sons who have already graduated from Dartmouth! Tom and Sarah Campbell brought their sons Chris 17 and Peter 7. Bruce and Alice Jolly celebrated the weekend with their son Brock 13. Tim and Carol McLaughlin enjoyed the fun with their daughter Megan. On Saturday night, Tim hosted a slide show featuring several hundred shots of Dartmouth adventures from the early sixties. We laughed heartily and at length. Russ and Judy Carson were present to visit with classmates and their daughter Cecily '95. Hank Amon escorted his daughter Lindsay '94. Rich and Mahala Beams were busy with their family. Mahala helped him to keep track of Andrew 9 and David 6 so that he could spend time with his daughter Jennifer '93. Allen and Judy Zern were able to spend the weekend with their son Peter '95.
Also attending and enjoying the good times were Bob and Sharon Blake, Gary and Stephanie Bucher, Roger and Nancy Hansen, Jack and Sue Heidbrink, Ed and Terry Keible, Bill and Barbara Gorton, and Dennis Purnell with his wife, Bebe Kelly. Brian Porzak came with his guest Amy Jo Neill; Ken McGruther was there with his guest Pat McDermott; and Jim Hamilton was there visiting his niece Naomi Aoki '92. Tucker Mays popped by the tailgate party on Saturday while on his way to hunt "dangerous" wild game. Art and Nancy Rainey were enjoying 3re weekend and the company of their son Doug '94. Jim and Sue Aiken were there with Rob 10 as they visited with Kate '92. John and Barbara Daily were present and visiting with their son Craig '94.
Steve and Linda Waterhouse were able to enjoy the weekend in a special way. They could visit with all of us and spend some time with their daughter Mindy '92. But they did not have to travel from Texas or Colorado or even New Jersey. They now own a home in Hanover, convenient and beautiful, overlooking Occom Pond.
Jim Griffiths was also able to celebrate in a special way. He too lives within minutes of the campus, in Lebanon. He has several daughters who were able to visit with him: Sally, Kate '90, and J essie '93. And he had a birthday party on top of ail that. On Saturday night, after listening to the beautiful harmony of the "Decibelles" (daughter Jessie included), he blew out almost 5 0 candles as we sang happy birthday to him.
Your class officers held an efficient meeting on Saturday morning, Allen Zern presiding. The class is operating efficiently and there are many plans to report in a later column. Look for details of the meeting and the mini-reunion in the class newsletter.
We end this column with the sad news that one of our classmates has passed away. Allien McCoy died in August as the result of Hodgkin's Disease. We extend our deepest sympathy to his loved ones.
