Unfortunately, Sam Wallis, our newsletter editor, and I find most of our classmates too modest to write of their achievements. We have to drag the news out by devious means and we regret this. However, we are grateful to many wives and friends who provide us with news from time to time. Therefore, we were pleased to receive by this means two items of interest this month. North American Philips Lighting Corporation has recently announced the promotion of Jim Donmoyer to the position of vice president and corporate sales manager. Jim joined his company, commonly referred to as Norelco, in 1968 after 15 years with Westinghouse, and he has had several promotions along the way. He, his wife Dayle, and their two children live in Westfield, N.J.
At Reunion last year Dave and BarbSunderland brought us up to date on their activities in Colorado where Dave is president of Gates Land Company. Now we learn that Dave has been named to the board of the Colorado Association of Housing and Building. From his headquarters in Colorado Springs, Dave super-throughout Colorado. Dave is also a member of the executive group of Urban Land Institute and his company has received national recognition for comprehensive environmental planning. Very refreshing story.
As many of you have noticed in this publication, the Class of 1953 has been missing off and on for the past several months. Well, this great class has now been located and I urge you to read on for the interesting comments of their reporter and class secretary, Dick Blum. "Blos" is a very good friend of our class and I am hopeful he and your reporter will be trading news in the coming year about activities of our two classes. Welcome, Dick!
When the first nice day of spring arrives in New York a favorite pastime is to storll the streets of the city at midday. I guess this is what causes spring fever to take hold and it also is an opportunity to meet friends doing the same thing. Therefore, it was a pleasant surprise to run into Harvey Kelley and spend a moar enjoyable few minutes catching up on his activities. As a matter of fact, Harvey will probably take umbrage at my inference he was taking a spring stroll. He was probably oh his way to an important meeting connected with his New York insurance business since his company, Circle Financial Services, is that and more. They are connected, as I understand it, with Penn Mutual. Harvey and his family, ineluding three youngsters, live in Manhattan.
Speaking of insurance people, my wife and I had an opportunity recently to have dinner with Ross and Fayne Daniels of Pawling, N.Y. Ross is in the insurance business in Pawling, serves on the board of a local bank, and is Justice of the Peace for Pawling. It seems to me Ross is one of a dying breed,ie., someone who is born, raised, and pursues his career in one town. I wonder how many other members of our class fit into that category. Drop me a line.
Word from the Connecticut General Insurance Corporations is that Jack Hart is second vice president charge of the medical programs department. Our varsity and football letterman jointed CG in Boston as a group insurance representative after graduation, and held sales and management posts in Springfield, Mass., and Miami before becoming director of sales for group insurance operations in the Hartford home office in 1966.
