Once again a fabulously successful and heartwarmingly happy fall mini-reunion in Hanover (and Eastman) for the Cornell weekend. Eddie O’Brien’s Sweet Refrain carries a report of activities. Here are some news gleanings from among those jovially present: Binney and Shirley Tower are throughly enjoying four grandchildren, with a fifth on the way. Helen Higgons is in the midst of the N.Y.C. advertising world as a market research analyst with Gray Advertising. As to the ForbesDelany children: Daughter Kirby, a Smith graduate, is in executive training with Bloomingdale’s; son Judd is working on an M.B.A. at Iona; and son Cort ’77, having worked all summer, is currently touring Europe.

John Goode’s daughter Anne ’77 is with John Hancock Insurance in Boston. The Goodes have three other children in college two at U. of New Hampshire and one at Ohio State. His honor Bob Clark has just combined a local in- surance agency with his own Clark Insurance Agency in Keene. Bob Grevatt’s son Jonathan is a freshman at Susquehanna. The Grevatts recently completed a new roof for their home in Plymouth, Vt., just in time for the snow.

Fritz Geller gets the no-prize prize offered in these columns for the identity of the class rose grower extraordinaire. He is, of course, of course, Rip Lohman, of Elmira, New York. As to the Gellers, daughter Nancy, formerly dean of students in Lyndon State College, has just become vice president of student affairs at U. of Maine. Son William is deep into his doctorate at Indiana U. George and Nora Graham, with daughter and son-in-law, recently completed a “little trip” covering Yugoslavia, Venice, Vien- na, and Dublin. (There’s a pattern there, but George will have to explain it to you.) DickProctor’s son Rick ’72 was married in April and lives near his parent in Winter Park., Fla.

John Koslowski is happy to have son James back at Dartmouth as a senior after a two-year sabbatical. Jim Doucette was father of the bride in September when daughter Jacqueline married Allen Malcolm. Hugh Lena’s daughters are covering all bets at the graduate school level: Patricia, a Mt. Holyoke graduate, just started Harvard Medical School, and Carol, a Wellesley graduate, just started U. of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

In the double role of local host and new class president, Paul Young, with Ruth, earned the thanks of all at the mini-reunion. The Youngs will be hosts of a different variety in January, when the new Dartmouth Savings Bank building is formally dedicated.

The Class was again ably represented at the annual Life After Dartmouth program on the campus, an undertaking in which 1943 has a special sponsoring interest. Tuss and CarolHand both talked with career-minded students he concerning the famous family melon business and she concerning her active role in the financial end of the enterprise, Tuss reports it was “refreshing” to witness the strong interest in the student audience.

Jim Knoepfler, where are you? How are you? Bob Higgons would particularly like to know. Drop him a line.

We report with sorrow the loss of classmate Edward C. Porter, M.D. Ed died on October 18, having collapsed while duck hunting. Ed was a radiologist at Eastern Maine Medical Center and a former mayor of Bangor, Maine. An obituary will appear in the next issue of the Alumni Magazine. The Class offers its deepest sympathy to his wife Claire and their seven children.

Kelly Raffman, of Barbary Coast fame, returned to Hanover in November to conduct his setting for Psalm 100, the familiar “Jubilate Deo.” Kelly is chairman of the Music Depart- ment at Clark University.

Cheers for Bob Gray, former class secretary, on his work in publishing a most handsome Dartmouth ’43 Class Directory. You have already received it, or should soon. If you don’t get the directory, we have lost you. Let’s hear from you. Let’s hear from you even if you did get the Directory.

Relly Raffman ’43 conducted the 120 men and women of the Glee Clubs in a perfor-mance of his setting for Psalm 100 during Houseparties Weekend this fall. Raffman ledthe Barbary Coast jazz ensemble during his undergraduate years and is currently chair-man of the Music Department at Clark University in Worcester, Mass.
