How can we be silent and remember the goodness, the close comradeship, the comforting relaxation, the friendships renewed which marked our 1982 mini-reunion in Hanover on October 15—17? More than 60 classmates
with wives and guests made this a best-ever fall get-together for the class, with every last detail lovingly attended to by Paul and Ruth Young. And the spirit of the occasion was suitably enhanced by a victory over Harvard.
For starters, a Friday evening Dartmouth Night celebration parade, Dartmouth Hall ceremonies, music, and a bonfire, all of which had to affect the sentiments of even the most stoic among us. Good food and Inn Tavern Room surroundings provided the pleasant background for camaraderie.
No sense trying to convey it all. You had to be there to catch it all. A few glimpses: Clare Caffrey convincing most of us to be adorned with the special reunion wool scarves brought to us by Reunion Chairman Eddie O'Brien . . . Ann Noble singing "The Man I Love" to catch just the right spirit . . . Bock, Heggie, and Maeck remembering classmates and deeds of derring-do over the years names and events which had slipped from our memories but which were now happily recalled . . . Bob Scott at first not quite believing he was among so many friends not seen for over four decades.
Ciiarley Cusack told us of his move in 1976 from Sacramento to Sunriver, Ore., where he's now involved in real estate. Wife Barbara takes advantage of the outdoor life with cross-country skiing, tennis, and hiking. The three Cusack children are all in the vicinity Charles Jr., an attorney, Dennis, an architect, and daughter Kris all married and each with two children. The Lusacks recently enjoyed a horseback trip through the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area in Montana. Charley visited with Holden Waterbury before his recent move to Bend, Ore. Holden formerly was chief structural engineer for the Air Force at Randolph A. F. Base in Texas. Charley and Hal Lindley got together for a fishing trip last spring. Hal recently moved from Nantucket to Orford, N.H.
Fred and Freda Richardson, thriving in the insurance business in Dover, N.H., told us of their son and daughter, both married and living in Texas, and their other son, working with Young and Rubicam in New York.
George and Jo Mason moved to Keene, N.H., in 1977 with daughter Rebecca. After selecting a house for purchase through a real estate agent, George sat down for the closing only to find he was buying Bob Clark's house! George had previously moved in 1965 to Nevada, where he was involved with, among other things, cattle-raising. But the Masons are not exactly settling down just yet. They went to Costa Rica last year for an extended visit and have now decided to settle there and will be moving in early 1983- Among George's recent exploits: catching a 377-pound black marlin and on his birthday (George's, not the marlin's).
Watch for more details soon on our 40th reunion —June 13—15, 1983- And may you have much to be grateful for on this Thanksgiving Day.
