The first order of business is to remind ' 15ers that plans are being made for an interim reunion at Hanover the weekend of September 30-October 1. The program will consist simply of a cocktail party and dinner on both Friday and Saturday evenings. There will be a meeting of the executive committee of the Class, but most of the time will be spent visiting with each other. More details after the class officers' weekend, May 6 and 7.
An interesting letter from Duze tells of the appointment of son-in-law Jay Hirama to a post with the World Boy Scout Bureau, which will take him and wife Barbara to a three-year residence in Geneva, Switzerland. Several of my Rotary associates here at Rossmoor are associated with Boy Scout Headquarters here in New Jersey and had a part in interviewing Jay for this assignment. Jay, formerly a Foreign Service officer with the State Department, has lived in a number of foreign countries.
Word from Bags Wanamaker tells of being grounded by arthritis, which prevents his attending reunions. We certainly miss him and Grace at our get-togethers. He also reports a 60th wedding anniversary and the birth of their first grand-grandchild. Marion and I think frequently of the interesting trip we took to Europe when Bags and Grace were members of our group; Bags made a complete write-up of the trip and gave a copy to each member of the party.
It won't be long now before the Alumni Fund will be getting in touch with you. Make it easy for Duze and his efficient team by getting your contribution in early.
