Greetings from snowy Vermont, the 1976-77 ski playground of America. (Pound sand you western skiers.) As I write this month's article, I can't help but be somewhat excited, for outside my window the white stuff is flying again and hopefully this weekend there will be enough left for more good eastern powder skiing. (For those not in the know, eastern powder is about three inches of untracked wind-blown snow over a stable base of mica schist or gneiss.) With this present outside distraction and a strong anticipation for the coming weekend's skiing, I will hit you with a bunch of blurbs so I can retreat to my work shop where I can bolt back on the inside edge of my right ski that I ripped off on last week's powder skiing.

Dr. Jim Grace writes as follows: "Beverly and I moved to New Orelans in August. I for duty at the new naval regional medical center [I didn't realize you could specialize in belly buttons], she for everything else except hunting and fishing [My wife can't stand worms either.] I discovered coaching football here - I'm glad I didn't find it before medical school or else I'd never have finished. I just returned from Chicago where I took the otolaryngology [there's that word again] board examination. We're not French Quarter experts yet but are trying hard. We're contemplating buying a boat but can't decide whether it should be for fishing or pleasure. [Obviously you haven't discussed this with Beverly yet.] Regards to all."

Charlie Brown's wife Sarah writes: "Charlie and I still live here in Alliance (Ohio) where he has practiced law for six years. He and his three partners maintain two offices, one in Alliance, one in Hartville, a community near Canton. [I figure one is for law, the other for poker.] He has been the city Republican chairman for two years and this year was named outstanding Republican of the year. We have three children - Charles 6, Hannah 4, and Duncan 2." Thanks for the news, Sarah.

Gerry Palm and his wife Nancy have been en- joying the past year with their first child. Jason Elliot Palm, born February 25, 1976. Let's all clap our hands for the Palms.

Jeff Shendell writes, "Am now a neighbor of Steve Blecher in that I'm located in Stamford, Conn., with Lord and Taylor as a managing director. [Boy, does my wife want to meet you, but don't give her a charge account.] My family will join me shortly as soon as we sell our home in Dayton."

Steve Ward says, "I'm well into my second year working in Montreal for Benson and Hedges. It's still a great city - especially if you own a racoon coat! The Olympics were exicting, but paying for them isn't. Jim Cornehlsen, who lives in Toronto, is alive and well." Jim, can you send us more detailed info on your vital signs?

Steve Caldwell, Ph.D., submitted the following biographical info: "I am an assistant professor of sociology at Cornell University and do much consulting for three Washington. D.C., policy research institutes. We have two children, daughter 8, son 1, and a stepdaughter 8. My wife, Bicky Townsend, works as a city planner in Ithica City Planning Department. We do as much travelling as possible (Haiti, Mexico, Greece) and outdoorsy things. Ithica is a nice mix of healthy small town, walk-to-work amenities and big university activities." Steve, I hope you will write me on the second coming of Blackman.

Dr. Marc Grinberg's wife just had a baby boy, Jeffrey, to complement Jill and Lisa. Marc is happy practicing eye surgery in sunny Sarasota, although he says he missed the New England sceenery (get it?). They visited Hanover last summer and he was reassured to see that externally everything is relatively unchanged. (Marc, what was your reaction to "X Delta" outside of Sanborn Hall? It reminded me of the frame of Clint Roenisch's Corvair after he rolled it on his way back from Skidmore in 1963.) Alan Woodberry reports that his wife Molly Ann gave birth to their first child, Sara Ann, on October 17, 1976. Alan is a tax manager with Price Waterhouse, specializing in international taxes. He recently transferred (December '76) from the firm's New York City office to the San Francisco office. (As far as cities go, that's going from the ridiculous to the sublime.)

Well, that's it - back to my ski repair - see you next month.
