Talk about ballot box stuffing, campaign finagling and political machinery! Listen to the slate of officers of the Greater Cleveland Dartmouth Alumni Association: Ken Lapine, president; Bob Burton, district enrollment chairman; Tom Good, enrollment vice president; GregCampbell, 1975-76 president. It's amazing what a '64 will do to get a night out with the boys and a free beer. Steve Sherman writes that a similar blitz has taken place at the Pocateilo, Idaho, alumni chapter; '64s have filled all office positions. To quote Steve, "the local Dartmouth club is quite small — me!" Steve goes on to report that the Shermans have a daughter Ashley two years old. He says, "we recently moved to Pocateilo where I have gone into the private practice of radiology. [Practice makes perfect.] Once the military transplanted us to the intermountain West ... we found outdoor stuff irresistable. The ski areas are numerous and the back packing region limitless [chubbers rejoice]. The seafood here leaves something to be desired but I miss the East about .01 per cent. My hay fever hasn't bothered me since I left New England [round of snaps for Steve's schnozola] and the national news comes on the TV too early in the afternoon to worry about." Carter won the election, Steve.

Taliing about wide open spaces (and I don't mean Danzig's mouth), Bruce Irvine is a general (as opposed to corporal) surgeon at the Granger Medical Center in Granger, Utah. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife Rhonda Lee and two sons: Mathew 2 and Christopher 1. I'm surprised that with Oral Roberts out there you have anyone sick to work on.

Also in the medical area, Harold Weiler writes, "our second daughter Susan was born in October, just after I returned from a short tour in Ethiopia at a naval eye clinic. [Are you sure Ethiopia isn't any eye disease?] I completed my ophthamological residency at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in July and was transferred here to the Portsmouth, Va., Naval Hospital, hopefully to remain a long time — except for short trips to see. [Harold wrote "sea" — the pun was my idea.] Now I occupy my time between family, sailing, my classic Austin Healy 3000, and ophthalmology." Maybe Harold can perform the procedure we discussed in my last column.

Brief notes: George Fesus has moved to England with the European office of the card division of American Express. Apparently inflation is so high, the only way George could handle the living expenses in England was to charge them. Frank Hannah returned in August to Andover Academy (Mass.) from a sabbatical year at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. His arms were a lot shorter and his pants pockets a lot deeper. Lenny Green's wife gave birth on September 5 to a little girl, named Laura Beth, who topped the scales at 5 lbs. 11½ oz. This weight puts her in the middleweight class. George McBath is presently working as a stockbroker with Bache, Halsey, Stuart in Orlando, Fla., and he specializes in stock options. I bought Otis Elevator (it's going up) and a company called Love Them and Leave Them (screws and bolts). You can contact George at 65168 San Pedro Square, Orlando, Fla. 32807.

Eric Taylor has become owner of the Wm. R. Katz Co. in Dallas, Tex. Katz is the largest distributor in the Southwest for fine gift items. Eric, do you handle pet rocks? Press release: Television Advertising Representatives (TVAR) announced the August 1976 appointment of TimBrooks as associate director of research and marketing. Tim was previously manager of nightime program research (NBC-TV) and prior to that the daytime research manager of NBC-TV. One final note for world travelers: Gene Marshall is still the principal officer of the American Consulate in Tehran, Iran. He has been there since 1975 and expects to be there until 1978. No regrets, please. See you next month.
