Well, its February and most of you have probably broken the habit of writing 1975 on your checks. Thanks, if you reacted to our plea for class dues, and the demonstrative digit to you if you didn't. Non dues-payers don't get mad, for your wish not to send dues is respected and I mean this seriously. Just remember next time you're urinating two martinis worth $3 that you drank just 15 minutes ago, how better spent the money could be. Are you smiling? I couldn't resist a little zinger. Now for the news:

I. Hall Of Fame

David Calder, M.D. has been selected as the first Wetenhall Fellow of the Section of International Medicine. This fellowship is funded by a donation from Mr. Robert Wetenhall through the D.H. McConnell Charitable Trust fund. The section of International Medicine of the Department of Internal Medicine was begun in January 1973 with the objective of promoting and fostering understanding and goodwill among people of various nations and cultures. David was former Chief Resident in Medicine of the Methodist Hospital (news blurb did not tell where). He will spend January, February, and March at the Universidad del Valle, Calle, Colombia and April, May and June at the medical school in Quito, Ecuador. (After all this, he will probably be an expert on Montezuma's Revenge or the green apple quick step for those of you not familiar with South American history). After Ecuador, he will go to Harvard's School of Public Health to pursue studies towards a master in Public Health degree and for some paragoric. Incidentally, in order to qualify for this fellowship, Dave had to learn Spanish. Ole!

Stephen Blake has joined the faculty of Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. Steve is adjunct assistant professor of history during the first and second terms of this year. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago in South Asian history.

From the Young Lawyers Section of the American Bar Association, I learned that in November of '75 Bill Neukom was elected its secretary. Bill currently resides in Seattle, Wash. This post leads to the presidency of the National organization of 180,000 members in two years. Bill is currently a member of the Seattle law firm of McDonald, Hoague, and Bayless, where he has been employed since 1971. He is a trustee of the Seattle-King County Legal Services Corp., legal advisor to the Washington State Coalition for open government and a legal advisor to the Seattle Urban League. Wah-Hoo-Wah! He's married to the former Dian McMakin of Hillsborough, Calif. II. General Babbling

A memo from Garth Gregory who is at the Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash. After three years in Berlin, he returned to Tacoma for a year before getting out of the Army. He's anxious to socialize with '64s in the Seattle area.

I just received interesting news about Mike Kolman (thanks, Carolyn). Mike has decided to change careers, which is a courageous decision. Mike has resigned from the retailing business of Stix, Barr and Fuller in St. Louis where marketing was his bag. Instead, he has decided to go into a business that distributes, manufactures, and repairs power transmission equipment. Mike sees a fantastic opportunity in this company, and he hopes to climb to the captain's chair within a few years. His title will be V.P. in charge of marketing. Good luck, Mike. Incidentally, the Kolmans have three kids: nine, six, and two (what crazy names for kids).

Now hear this. B.J. Batchelder and Carol are going skiing in Snowmass this winter. After skiing, B.J. is a mass of snow and Carol, a snowed mass. Oh. well.

III. Class Smut

Whenever I receive info from a fellow class officer, I immediately put it in this section. Don't ask me why. Steve Blecher, class treasurer excelsus, has, after six years of apartment living, bought a house in Scarsdale, N.Y. (maybe this is why he's pushing for dues collection). While three-year-old Andy is at nursery school, wife Amy teaches (part-time) math to 5th and 7th graders. Steve has been with the Financial Data Services Division of Automatic Data Processing for 2½ years. He has been involved with developing and marketing investment portfolio services for brokers, bankers and investment councellors. Well, that it for this month. Bye.

Secretary, 85 Woodbine Road Belmont, Mass. 02178

Treasurer, 24 Henry St. Scarsdale, N.Y. 10583
