If you like interesting people, its easy to like this job. The most fascinating information and exotic postmarks flow across my desk. Ours is a vital and dynamic group, whose interests and activities are varied and fun to report.

For example, if you happen to be along the coast of Maine this summer and spot a 32-foot Tahitian ketch off your bow, chances are JackChapman and family will be on board. They live on the rebuilt ketch (during warm weather) at York Harbor, Maine, and will cruise four weeks this summer. Jack finances his fun through his duties as vice president - marketing and sales for American Shoe Machinery, while his wife contributes her share as president of a company that deals in land development and interior decorating. Energetic Jack is also president of the York Youth Hockey Association, teaches economics in the School of Continuing Studies at the University of New Hampshire, and does recruiting and Alumni Fund work for Dartmouth. During the past three years, he and his wife have enjoyed Dartmouth Club trips to Hawaii and Peru. Jack concludes by saying that he would love to see Steve Quickel, perhaps at reunion in '79, and wants to challenge Mike Dikman to a handball rematch, having lost all 473 of their previous matches.

The management of large sums of invested funds has not noticeably aged Bill Manning. He and his partner look cool and competent in a photograph in the Rochester, N.Y., newspaper, run with an article on Manning and Napier Advisors, Inc. They founded this money management firm in 1969. From a million dollars in managed funds seven years ago, they now handle $120 million and have offices in Rochester and Buffalo. The article quotes an April 3 Forbes Magazine story on the firm's "remarkable success" in outperforming other institutional managers. The stock acquisition program, headed by Bill, and the municipal bond portfolio, Napier's specialty, are both ranked very high on a comparative basis.

An intriguing letter postmarked France and stamped with the word "Adidas" came from Larry Hampton, who resides in Strasbourg. Even a hardy jogger would fade trying to keep up with Larry, who is worldwide marketing director and serves on the board of Adidas (France). Last year he was in the Far East, most European countries, and North America, where he paused a moment for breakfast with Dick Harris. The Hamptons have two children and Larry's wife works as a physical therapist. They are devising a schedule that includes a reunion visit for June 1979.

Meanwhile, Professor Allen Pulsifer, of Iowa State University, Ames, lowa, returned this spring for a visit to Germany, where he spent part of 1975-76. He and his wife also visited England and Greece. Allen teaches and supervises graduate school research and enjoys sailing and camping with his wife and four children. With the family growing up, Mrs. Pulsifer works as a nurse and has returned to school part time. Allen covers lowa for the Alumni Fund and does some interviewing. We need more Hawkeyes in Hanover, Al.

Another expert sailor reports that white canvas is unfurling on Long Island Sound. TedMerritt, wife Linda, and four children are at home sailing on or swimming in the waters near Stratford, Conn. I've been out with Ted and can verify that he is yar. He is superintendent of schools for the Monroe School system, while Linda does counseling and pursues her studies in the mental health field. The Merritts were in Hanover two years ago to visit his sister and her husband, who teaches at Dartmouth Medical School. Ted concludes, "We have a good place to visit ... house on beach on Long Island Sound ... plenty of room ... sailboats for fun ... would like visitors who like to fit into busy life."

Jim Spence is now senior vice president of ABC Sports. He joined ABC in 1960 and has been in charge of "World Wide of Sports" for several years. His new position puts Jim second in command in the sports division. PhilDrescher has been named city attorney for Ojai, Calif. He had been handling city legal matters for the city of Santa Paula and is general counsel for the Ventura Port District. Stuart Kornfeld answered my request for Alumni Fund work in St. Louis from Fort Meyer, Fla. The next day, Dan Dunkle wrote he would be glad to help in Chicago, from New York City. Hmmm. Our Class will probably hit 500 contributors this year. That is fantastic. Do your part!
