These class notes will be our last for the 1977-78 season. We will resume in October, since the September issue is reserved for the reunion classes.
Since I am writing these notes on May Day (May 1), it seems premature, but it is my last opportunity to remind you of the 1933 minireunion on September 22-24, 1978, at Quechee Lakes, Vt., which promises to be an outstanding weekend event. Again, I can only assume that the required 100 couples, including guests, for the dinner package has been met or oversubscribed and that Bill MacCarty, chairing the reunion, is going ahead with the planned details. Our thanks to those of you who have already confirmed your planned attendance. To those of you who have been less than certain, why not decide in favor of this special three-day weekend in Hanover and Quechee? Robert Johnson of Quechee Realty, Post Office Box 570, Quechee, Vt. 05059 (telephone, 802/2959555), is handling the reservations for rooms in condominiums or vacation homes and for the dinner package (three dinners v tax and tip, at $36 per person). Don't delay. Send in your reservation for at least the dinner package and have the next three months to look forward to this happy occasion.
It is also important to remember that the 1978 Alumni Fund campaign closes within a few days (June 30), and we need the support of each of you in reaching our 1933 dollar objective of $60,800, which will be credited to the Campaign for Dartmouth. As of the present writing, we are ahead of the total Fund in both percentage of dollar objective and the participation index, as we have been during April of the last two years, but we need a strong finish during May and June to exceed our goals. It still is not too late to participate, so send in your check today (if you haven't already) to help assure that Dartmouth will continue to be one of the finest institutions in the country during the 1980's.
It is saddening to report that Mike (Jesse J.) Michaelson of Rockville Center, N.Y., died January 11, 1978. An obituary will appear in this or another issue.
The mailbag for personal news is empty but I want to thank those of you who have been helpful during the past season in sending news of yourselves, families, and other 33ers. I hope that in retrospect it has been a good year for you and your family. And now, all best wishes for a healthy and pleasant summer. Until October!
Alexander S. Cunningham '33 was namedClass Treasurer of the Year last April.
