When I was an undergrad at the College (yes, I have now been out for as long as I was in), I believed quality was better than quantity. My professors would argue that I didn't have either in any of my papers but, of course, at that point I hadn't found my true calling as class secretary. So with that theory in mind I begin this month's newsletter.
It is with great pride and pleasure that I am able to introduce the latest member of the Frechette brood. Ed and Ellen are the proud parents of John Henry Jack), the second child of the Chicago couple. The youngster was born to follow in the footsteps of Dick Butkus, busting out in August at a whopping nine pounds, 14 ounces. Jack is my twelfth nephew or niece and with two more on the way, I'm kind of being left in the parental dust. All is not lost, however. It seems I will be bringing my own addition into the family come 1989. Stay tuned to this column for farther details.
1 Getting back to the quality news, I'm sure you all remember Mary Thomson Rentier. Well, Mary rang me up the other night to let me know that the class of '82 was named Class of the Year. What did we do? How should I know! I'm just proud to be a member of the Class of the Year. I'll take any honors I can get. Congratulations to president Mike Donohue and the rest of the class officers. If any of you feel like letting me in on our greatness, it would be greatly appreciated.
That's it for the news and if that's not quality, now you know how my professors felt.
Happy holidays to all and get ready for that thrilling college hoop season.
