Your scribe had hoped to send this month's notes to Hanover without including the name of a classmate who had crossed the Great Divide — but it was not to be. George Davidson of West Palm Beach, Fla., died in his sleep on August 24; his obituary will appear elsewhere.

There is still more bad news. Last February, Elmer Tucker of Holyoke went for a walki slipped on the ice, and broke a hip. He had it pinned and now gets about with a walker. He failed to heed the warning of Richard Hovey, class of 1885, to stay close to home ...

"When the wolf-wind is wailing in the driveway, And the snow drifts deep along the road, And the ice-gnomes are marching from their Norway,

And the great white cold walks abroad." Octogenarians should be content to place a log on the fire and to watch the sparks zig-zag up the chimney from the comforting embrace of an easy chair, where brittle bones are safest.

Our peripatetic president returned from Arizona in time to put our share of the Alumni Fund to bed and to return to the practice of medicine. The word retirement is not in his lexicon.

John Remsen is also happy. He had a satisfying response to his request for contributions to the memorial fund.

Hanover will not be the same from now on. Our treasurer has sold her home at 5 Ripley Road and moved to a condominium in South Burlington, Vt. Her new address is 71 Manor Woods, Kennedy Drive.

Priscilla Page continues to prosper. She is now director of outreach services for the state of Vermont. Her father, Fred Page, is pleased that she will be in Burlington and that she can still spend her weekends at 3 Ripley Road. Incidentally, Fred will be 90 on October 28. Why not send him a card?

Gladys Freeman has moved again. She is now living at the United Church Retirement Home in Silver Springs, Md. Gladys is a most loyal member of the class. A letter from her said: "Greetings to all you 1913 folks; your friendship is one of the legacies bequeathed to me by Edmund, whom you knew as "Buck."
