The amazing feat of the class of '09 in bringing back nine of 11 living members to observe their 70th reunion should not only elicit widespread congratulations, it warrants a listing in the Guinness Book of World Records.
I was privileged to help Charlie Jordan celebrate his 91st birthday on August 19. Although he feels that his health is failing in too many respects, I think that he manages quite well under the capable direction of his faithful wife. Incidentally, the six "junior" members of 1911 are due to reach the 90-year milestone by July 1980.
The brevity of the notes presented in this issue should be attributed to a lack of class news and to my own preoccupation with the treatment of a physical condition which resulted in a brief period of hospitalization and surgery. I think that my physical problem has now been corrected.
A clipping just received from Wee Kimball reports the death of Sam Pickering's wife Elsie at a Nashua nursing home on September 23. She is survived by her husband, five children, 17 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. An earlier report had Sam in a Nashua nursing home following several years of failing health. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Sam and his family in their bereavement.
