The Alumni Records Office reports a new address for Samuel Pickering at Greenbriar House, 55 Harris Road, Nashua, N.H. 03060. As we recall, Sam was confined to a nursing home for quite a period a few years ago but subsequently was able to return to his home in Nashua.
The Class has suffered a further loss in the death of Raymond Nead on December 6, 1978. See the obituary section in this or a later issue. This reduces the number of surviving members to 18.
A much-appreciated Christmas card from True Dudley brought word that he is carrying on as usual and that his granddaughter was married a short time ago at the age of 19.
It was my pleasure to spend Christmas with my son Paul '39 and his wife at their home in Connecticut. In addition to the uplifting influence of a family reunion, it afforded the opportunity to become better acquainted with three of my five grandchildren and four of my six great-grandchildren. This presented a welcome contrast to the rather solitary existence I lead during most of the year.
I have been able to maintain a reasonably consistent record of weekly visits to the CharlesJordans. The Jordan residence is located at the top of a steep approach which poses problems in bad weather. The Jordans give every indication of faring well and "living happily ever after." Despite his infirmities, Charlie is still able to smoke his pipe before breakfast and appears to be thriving under the watchful eye and solicitous care of his devoted wife and constant companion.
So far, the current winter in this area has been a compassionate one compared to the brutal storms of a year ago. Although record rainfall has caused some flooding, we have been spared much of the ill fortune that could have come our way. The month of January, however, has been most arid in the creation of class news. I urge you, classmates, wives, and widows, to drop me an occasional line about your own and/or your family's doings.
