In the October issue we noted the honor bestowed upon Judge Donald A. Cheney through the certificate of commendation conferred on September 1, 1981. Now, one year later, a publication of the Orange County Historical Commission for September 1982 states, "This is the nation's most prestigious competition for local history achievement, and the judge was selected for the award by a national committee of leaders in the history profession who reviewed more than 125 nominations." Like old wine, the quality of your achievements is improving with age, Don.

For the first time in quite a long period we were advised by the Office of Financial Aid as to its nominee for the Class of 1911 Permanent Fund Samson Occom Scholarship for 1982—83. He is Raymond Burns '86 from the incoming freshman class. He is a Native American from Wahpeton, N.D., and must bear most of the responsibility for financing his own education. Raymond is extremely interested in the sciences and hopes to continue his studies. He is reported to be a most worthy and deserving young man, with a great deal of potential.
