Chris Nevison was a Fulbright Fellow at Oxford after graduation. There he earned another B.A. before adding an M.S. and Ph.D. at Stanford. Chris joined the Math Department at Colgate in 1974 as an assistant professor after lecturing at the University of California. To bring you up to date, Chris has been awarded tenure at Colgate effective July 1, 1980.

Writing in the Journal of Law and Education, Dave Russell recently took a look at the legal status of the university in our society. His article, "Goal Accountability: Towards A Comprehensive Legal Conception of the University," makes a number of references to the Dartmouth College Case.

Bill Hayes has been named underwriter in the commercial lines department of The Travelers Insurance Companies. Bill joined The Travelers after completing his M.B.A. at Tuck in 1972. Bill lives in Vernon, Conn. Pete Strassberger is a partner in the firm of Greenwald, Driscoll and (now) Strassberger. The firm is in Norwalk. Pete was a member of the now-more-famous-than-ever-before Alpha Delta Phi brotherhood.

Incidentally, during football halftimes I still make a habit of strolling across the street to Herot (was Chi Phi) and AD where TomFlannery, Andy Ley, Tom Fagan, and WarrenCook can occasionally be found.

News from four men who get a daily dose of the granite of New Hampshire: Bob McCoy acts as forester and surveyor for Parker Whipple Forest Consultants in the lovely town of Tamworth. Bob has an M.S. degree in forestry from the University of New Hampshire. StanBrown was running for a Lebanon City Council seat recently. Stan is chief of public services at Baker Library. He holds a master's degree in library science from Simmons College. WinJohnson has been promoted to controller of the Claremont General Hospital. Win has an M.B.A. from Wharton and serves on the Windsor County Regional Planning Commission. Wayne Beyer corrected a recent note in this magazine: He was press secretary and legislative assistant to New Hampshire Congressman Peter Kyros and John Breckinridge from 1973-75. Wayne is with the firm of McLane, Graf in Manchester, N.H.

From Maine, news that John Van Orden is specializing in orthopedics in the Bath- Brunswick area. John was chief of orthopedics at Patterson Army Hospital in New Jersey for the past two years.

Finally, some news not derived from Newspaper clippings sent to me by the Alumni Records Office: It has always been rumored that the gentlemen who chopped down the Indian the Winter Carnival statue... were deranged Harvard hockey players. On the contrary, the perpetrators were four crafty 1967 freshmen who resided at the time in South Payer. It seems they had a few funny drinks called Fogcutters that Sunday night and then rented an axe (for 25¢) from the DOC. If the other three will come forward, I'll tell you who the fourth one is. Fifteen years later, I guess we're safe.

That's all for now.
