For anyone interested in an unbiased view of recent Hanover happenings, the May 12 issue of The New Yorker has a good one.
With the way people have been getting married lately, it won't be surprising when we have a new baby boom in the 1980's. Anyone interested in the diaper business?
The latest casualty took place in Winnipeg, Man., where Chris "EA" Hodgson bit the dust (and believe you me, there is much dust in Winnipeg) and married lovely wife Pam. The Hodgsons will reside in Toronto, where the Hog will be continuing to pursue a stockbroking career and Pam will be raising the 12 kids Hog wants to have. As Hoggie says, "At least one will follow in my footsteps." Gordon"Inches" Miles (a member of the wedding party) Rob "Sky King" Swenson (who flew his private vehicle into the Church parking lot), Roland Ostwald, Paul Sawyer '78, and this relayer made up the green contingent that traveled to that lovely city in the middle of the prairie.
A postcard from John Eldredge: "I am finishing up at Tuck School this year and have hopes for a job with General Foods in Minneapolis. Lots of canoeing there! MikeChiarella was accepted at George Washington U.'s accounting program in D.C., where he and wife Alexandra will be moving soon." Thanks, John.
Adrienne Alexander, erstwhile hailing from Hanover and the Hop, now in Hells Kitchen, opened in her first Broadway role on May 13. She will be seen in The Utter Glory of MorriseyHall, a comedy about high jinks in a girls' prep school. How about "The Utter Glory of South Mass Hall"? Adirenne's official address is 305 West 45th St., #3M. As she says, "I welcome anyone with beer." Girls at prep school drink beer . . . how tacky. Good luck, Adrienne.
Kip Hall, heard from last month, included in a follow-up relay: Sean Gorman is at the University of Chicago Law School — nothing exciting there. Bruce and Beth Wilkens will be moving out to Illinois soon, and Beth is expecting their first child around July 1. See what I mean about diapers? Jeff Plunkett is doing well in Paris. Doing what? And Coke McClure is in his second year at Princeton Theological Seminary and has won a fellowship to study in Europe.
George Jepsen, pursuing a joint public policy degree at Harvard Law and Kennedy School of Government, was a panelist for Law Alumni Day at the College. The panelists described their careers, listed factors which influenced their decisions, and shared advice for those considering a career in law. 1 hope the advice was to forget law and get a real job.
Dick Carroll reports that he has been enjoying life as a manager on behalf of an entrepreneurial venture — opening restaurant/nightclubs in the Los Angeles area and training new waiters and bartenders — but has decided that "due to recent data on an almost certain baby boom, I am now convinced I will do better in the diapers business with divisions in powder and Vaseline." Anyone interested, please contact Dick. Sounds very California.
Judy Yablung received her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago March 23 and is employed as a marketing assistant in product management by the Quaker Oats Co. in Chicago. Anyone interested in cereal or maybe breakfast, contact Judy.
Dan Murphy and wife Lee are living in Murph's hometown, Newton, Mass. Murph is a government securities trader for Salesmen Brothers in Boston and Lee will be pursuing her M.B.A. and playing rugby.
Last and least, Dan Tomlak (Dr. Dan, the dentist) was seen, but could not see (for some reason) at the most recent Green Key Weekend. The only words from Lak's mouth were, "Boy, do Canadians have bad breath." But a lot of cavities.
Class Day 1976. Remember? Remember classmates Karla Nielson, left, and Alex Rynkiewicz?
